1950-12-01 | Jose Maria Gatica | W-TKO
| Terry Young | |||||||
1:12
ref: Frank Fullam
Gatica's cyclonic style overwhelmed Young. The lad from Buenos Aires floored his rival briefly with a left hook to the jaw in the first round and pummeled Young steadily thereafter. Referee Fullham's intervention seemed hasty, for Young appeared strong and was fighting willingly at the time. Young protested but bowed gracefully when Fullham expressed the opinion he was becoming merely a punching bag for Gatica. (New York Times)
