Re: Will you be subscribing to Allegedly channel?

Unfortunately, it's more BoxVillage than allegedly at the moment. Yes, us lot know about it - and a few of us may even do the good thing and pay for it - but who else does? Each time I tell somebody 'so and so is fighting on allegedly' it's as if I've asked them to explain the meaning of 2001 in 12 ...

Re: Dereck Chisora vs. Robert Helenius on Dec 3

Helenius will do him this guy looks the real deal tall, heavy handed with both hands and decent boxing skills Chisora looked crap at the weekend no matter what anyone says See, that's what I thought when I heard about Helenius + saw his results against Peter and Brewster, but he came over and sparr...

Re: Fury fight>

Fury is out of shape, technically all over the place, poor defensively and could get knocked out by literally anybody, but I'll happily watch him fight until the day he retires. There is something incredibly engaging about him, inside and outside the ring. He's perfect for Channel 5. Also, on the su...

Re: Making Haye - Elliot Worsell

All good, guys. Thanks a lot for the comments. I knew there would be critical voices out there somewhere, but, so long as it doesn't get too catty, all is fine with me. To be honest, I decided on the style/structure of the book, all the while knowing it would appeal to some and piss off others. It w...

Re: See the official scorecards for Pacquiao v Marquez

Do people really think this is some shady scoring for Arum and the Pac team? American judges, as long as I can remember have always been criticised for favouring fighters who go forward and instigate the action, which is what Pac did all night. I thought Marquez did more than enough to nullify most...

Re: See the official scorecards for Pacquiao v Marquez

it was an obscene robbery. Look at the scorecards, see how they work in relation to each other, and justify that statement. On the evidence of the cards you can call them incompetent if you like but not bent. Lovely or not, good or bad, the judges clearly scored the second half of the fight subject...

Re: Chris Eubank is Back - Hennessy Sports Signs Junior

Great coup for Hennessy Sports, so long as they haven't panicked and paid him world champion money from the get-go. Eubank Jr. can become a big name on Channel 5 and, lets be honest, starts with a pretty neat head-start in any case. Oh, and he can also fight, which helps massively. I've seen him spa...

Re: Making Haye - Elliot Worsell

Nice one, Gav. That means a lot. I'd be delighted to sign your copy one day (when you're not galavanting Stateside/teaching the Yanks how to kick a round ball). Oh, and reading that old article back (well, the opening paragraph - as far as I got) made me throw up in my mouth a little. So, thanks for...

Re: Making Haye - Elliot Worsell

Bought this on the weekend. Did make me look twice when I saw the author I have to admit, the person I was with in Waterstones seemed deeply uninterested when I pointed out that I used to post on the same internet message board as the author, but then I guess she doesn't realise what cool cats us l...

Re: Making Haye - Elliot Worsell

So it talks about twitter? No chapters dedicated to Twitter, Facebook, MySpace or any other social networking site, but Glyn's right, it is very much a 21st century story - both in terms of mine and his (Haye). Also, rather than focus on the sport's glory years and paint a picture of when box...

Re: Making Haye - Elliot Worsell

Will add my congrats from Dubai as I remember GITR from back in the day - a fantastic achievement and something you'll be able to look back with pride on in years to come. Have finally got round to getting a Kindle so suspect this will make its way to the top of my download list :TU: Thanks very mu...

Re: Allegedly channel is brilliant

allegedly is great for boxing fans, but why do I get the feeling that nobody else (outside of us lot) actually watches any of these fights? It seemed like a hefty portion of the country knew about and planned to watch Groves-DeGale a few months ago, and yet the pair's subsequent fights have slipped ...

Re: Making Haye - Elliot Worsell

 Wow. Thanks so much for the kind words. It really does mean the world to me - young, first-timer, finding my feet in the literary world, wondering if I can actually cut it. Gives me a lot of hope and confidence. As anybody that has read it will tell you, it's not exactly a conventional sport/a...
