Apparently, we are a 'poxy website', as his press minion told one of my correspondents F rank had called us this week (the correspondent in question is a former amateur coach, ref and current member of the GB Ams performance team, by the way. All he's bothered about is what's good for boxing. But because he's associated with us, he gets nixed like the rest of us.)

We've had bother here and there in the past - it's hard to report on anything without upsetting someone or other - and we did drop a major bollock once...but basically if you criticise, in my experience, they don't seem to like it. Jeez, if they'll ban Boxing News, they certainly won't bother about us.

But let's not distract forum readers from the story!

It's Britishboxing.net by the way. We don't ask for free tickets. As a legitimate media outlet we ask for press accreditation and don't get it. Big deal. It's just a bit annoying but there you go.

Congratulations to F rank...and what does anyone think of Naz NOT getting in?

Ok thanks for that. Regarding the induction, yeah he does deserve it. It's a real mixed opinion on Frank. I know a lot of people who worked with him in the past have great respect for him. Banning criticism is not a good thing but I suppose as far as he's concerned he is just protecting his interests and wants control of what he serves up to Joe Public. Unfortunately no other promoter in the country seems capable of giving a fighter the exposure Frank can. It's sad, but true. As a result, Haye, Woods, Witter and Froch are relatively unknown.

Wow.. most would consider Hall of Shame more approriate.. i guess it was purely because of Calzaghe-Kessler or something what with Kessler's promoter in there as well..

I'm surprised Naz didn't get straight in. He was certainly more decorated than McGuigan. It's also hard to determine whether he should be in ahead of some of the old boys. Does Len Harvey really deserve to be in there? To be honest I think they need to just consider modern time fighters as I can't imagine many people have seen him fight and therefore can't make judgement on the decision. British legend, yes, but world legend?

Am I the only one with no real interest in seeing Calzaghe vs Woods?

I just dont see Woods troubling Joe that much.

Warrens election to the hall of fame is thoroughly desreved and earned. Just as Calaghe's is to the BBCTV Sports Review.

When you think back to the opposition he faced when he launched his career, with the closed shop of Duff, Lawless Astaire and Barrett, who basically run roughshod over the BBBofC. A man with less self belief and determination may have backed down.

Warren faced up to them and effectively broke them, revolutionizing UK Boxing Promotion in the process.

Congratulations

congratulations to allegedly good for British Boxing, Naz NO!

but Len Harvey, EXCELLENT and well over due...I tell you there are a lot more due that sadly never will be included.

You know I've lived both here and abroad and there is no place like home for being so sensitive & hypocritical to the point of craziness. Americans praise and lift one another up preserving one and all and at the same time Except & Expect criticism as it is honest and constructive. We're so used to pulling each other apart and damn near everyone (generalization) has got something to hide that we British are at the same time guarded and defensive (hypocritically).

Banned BBN, come on!!!
lets be allowed to Lift & Criticize-respectfully like the Yanks and build up our Nation & greats...Well done Warren and long, long rounds of applause for the Great Len Harvey and his many, many peers, good for British boxing.

100% agreed.

With regard to the topic...

Of course Warren deserves the acolade! He's grafted his backside off in the fight-game for the best part of thirty years; with coming up twenty of those being at the highest echelon of British boxing. He has also made regular jaunts into european and world ventures.

To write up a list of the fighters he has managed and/or promoted would take hours. How many of them have overachieved and been able to earn a decent crust because of Warren's shrewd management and understanding of the business? Lots.

Think of the great nights we have had courtesy of his promotions. If I'd only been witness to the Nigel Benn fights he promoted, I'd be content.

Among all the backslapping and arse kissing dont forget that 2 of his greatest 'successes' Calzaghe and Hatton both had at least 3 years of their prime wasted while Warren cashed in and couldn't/wouldn't make the best fights for them.

Naz should have been there IMO...

I think its more due to politcal correctness he is not there (the car accident).

Its a shame, his boxing skills have earned him a right to be in that hall

even though the man can't take any form of criticism without spitting his dummy out.

he deserves his place in the hall of fame. he's put on some terrific shows over the years and been involved in virtually everyone that mattered in british boxing in the last 20 yrs bar lennox lewis. :TU:

shame naz didn't make it. i'm not surprised he didn't get it on first ballot though.

He deserves to be in. He's been responsible for some very big nights, he came back from being shot, and he's dealt with all the biggest British names.

But his exclusivity, quest for fake titles, his shamelessness about bringing in chump opposition and media manipulations make me want to vomit.
