Hatton-Mayweather 900k buys in the UK and 1.5m in the US

Post by Phenomenal-Nutrition »

I've heard Hatton-Mayweather did 900,000 PPV sales in the UK alone and around 1.5m in the US. That works out at around US$106million in PPV sales alone

Apparently Ricky earned around $40m so don't feel too sorry for him.

Both Mayweather and Hatton will be looking to milk their names for a few years and don't be suprised at silly match ups like Hatton getting a Mayweather rematch or a Delahoya fight.

900,000 PPV buys over here? That's either the staggering truth, or nonsense...

hmmm...... sky said the fight was being shown in 180+ countries worldwide.

Were they PPV?

If so how many Gazillions were made, or if they sold the rights again,

how many gazillions were made?

Big money in boxing :-?

900,000 buys for the UK is phenomenal. I think the previous record was set by Bruno against Tyson for their second fight was it?

I wonder if this has broken it!

Incredible how much money this fight has generated, truly astonishing that someone from this country was involved in a fight that big!

I doubt this figure is correct. 900,000 buys would be big for the US alone. There are approx 25m households in the UK compared to 125m in the States. That number of buys would be the equivalent of 4.5m in the US, which would be double the previous record and be highly unlikely for a fight taking place in the middle of the night.

I think Hatton has sold 250,000 before, why is it that surprising? It's not often a British fighter takes on the #1 fighter in the world and is given even a remote chance of winning.

If you can trust The Sun, they quoted that Ricky has earnt £20m+ from this as Ray Hatton canily kept the UK TV rights and had a deal whereby that they got a percentage of buys, I think over 300,000 or (150,000, don't pay that much attention to The Sun) and since it has hit 900,000 they are on a whopping great payday. Think it mentioned 5m+ people bough the figh tin China.

Same China that is still a 3rd world country and leads the world in pirated media?

and 5million bought Hatton Floyd PPV? wow...........

It must have smashed previous UK PPV records but 900k seems a bit steep. Everyone I know watched the fight somewhere and they never watch boxing so it's going to be a pretty healthy number.

I do apologise for quoting the figures from The Sun:

However as I stated I wasn't paying much attention and smack my figures as I got the China figure wrong. 50m Chinese people tuned in to watch the fight, no mention of PPV. Please accept my apologies.

SKY haven't confirmed or released any figures, but if what the Sun is right (lol) then 900k is a new record.

They stated the previous highest was Lewis Vs Tyson which was 750k.

I'm sure the numbers will come out soon enough.
