I always said Hatton was not very good

Hello, I have never posted on boxing forums but always read along the years.
Now after being PROVED right i feel i am qualified to make comments after years of reading diatribe on Ricky Hatton and how "good" he was...usually from posters on British forums.

Hatton's lungingstyle was ok when he was fighting blown up lightweights & old men in his back yard with his hand picked refs that let him get away with fouling ect.

Now i read cry babies on British forums are complaining that Cortez didn't allow Hatton to use his usual wrestling tacktics....BOOHOO.

It was no surpise to me that Hatton got a nasty beating the first time he stepped up and fought a top fighter in his prime with a ref that didn't stand for his B.S.

Hatton is not even the best 140lb fighter in the U.K..never was....Jnr Witter is the man, so Hatton needs to drop this tough guy act...because IMO is nothing but a very lucky domectic level fighter that hit the jackpot.

I think Hatton is a lot better than you are giving him credit for, but he does have limitations.

I do agree with you that he has hit the jackpot.

I recall he earned about £7million for his WBU title fights and his Tszyu challenge, all on home turf.

And no doubt he has earned very well out of his subsequent fights

He must be wealthy and at a guess could have a net worth of £10m plus

Well as i said i have Hatton at #2 at 140 in the U.K...so for a fighter to have earned £10mil or whatever for being that good IMO is a pi$$take.

You can argue he is number 2 at 140, but our current crop at 140 is hardly the normal is it?
You could easily argue that Britains 1 and 2 at 140 are both 1 and 2 in the world at that weight.

Give us a few more fighters that you think are domestic level(I will give you my opinion of a domestic level fighter...Martin Power)

Ok, would you have had to admit Hatton was exposed as not being anywhere near as good as his hype if Jnr Witter would have knocked him out last week?

Because Jnr Witter WOULD have and WILL knock out Hatton if Hatton ever mans up and takes the fight.

Rees is much closer to domestic level than Hatton, but I still feel he is above that level.

Come on, give us a few more(preferably not light welters)

Do you regard David Haye as domestic level?(some could argue he is Britains number 2 cruiserweight afterall)

No David Haye is NOT domestic level, always thought he was true world class and would KTFO Enzo.

IMO a domestic level British fighter is someone who's boxing style & ability will come up short 9 times out of 10 when he meets a top American fighter in his prime.

But Floyd Mayweather isn't just a "top American fighter in his prime" - he's p4p the best boxer on the planet, and only Paul Williams in my opinion could come close to winning, and still, he would probably get beat as well - so is he just a domestic fighter then? Or is your Yankland naivety still getting the better of you?

As i said would you Hatton fans be singing the same tune if it was Witter who KTFO Hatton?.....no i think you would have very little to say on the subject.

Hatton din't just lose a close fight to PBF, he got taken to school and knocked out by a punch he never even heard of.
