Green's preparation

Post by toppity »

Was Otis Griffin a high enough quality opponent for Danny Green leading into a world title fight? Although all his other fights were in the states, there was not alot of class about his opponents.
and has anyone heard how Danny's preparation has gone?

Griffin was ranked pretty highly and a fair few people on this board gave him a good chance against Green. I don't think anyone expected him to crumble the way he did...

Green has been training in a converted workshop in Newtown, an inner suburb of Sydney. Word is he is training hard. he was supposed to have some 195cm Ukrainian coming out here as a sparring partner. I do not know if this bloke got here.

You can actually see the converted silo thing he has been training at from the train. He has also been doing roadwork in the streets of Newtown..

Are you talking about that Gurov (?) bloke who is fighting on the undercard? If so then yes he did do some sparring with him as well as his undercard opponent Colin Wilson...

His name is Alexander Gurov, he's a cruiserweight who's been in there with David Haye and Jean Marc Mormeck and is a pretty damn solid fighter. He'll give Green good work, my only question would be whether it'll be too good. He's fighting Col Wilson I see. Wilson ain't that good, but he'll have a big weight advantage and has the experience to put it to good use. Its an interesting matchup..... but it'll be ugly, thats for sure.

Danny needs to spar someone with height. Gurov looks the right size.

Gurov's a world class cruiser, or was. He was beating Mormeck who he bent double with body shots but lost late, he got caught cold by Haye and he apparently got robbed in Italy v Cantatore.
