William Kickett
William Kickett
His nickname is now "The Yamatji Warrior" pronounced Yemagee

To be honest I wasn't totally sold on Willie before last night but he stepped up in class and still looked good. I do think he got Browne at a good time but it is a great win none the less.
However he did get a bit cocky throughout the fight and if he does that in a big fight he could get the same treatment Pedan gave Campbell. I also still think that Gairy St Clair would murder him but I guess we will see after a few more fights...

Still he's only had 8 fights & is improving rapidly. Even though Tommy hadn't fought for a long time he pressured Kickett who handled it well. Both Geale & Kickett showed this week if managed well they can go places.Drews performance defied belief. He threw few punches & there was no urgency in his corner. I smell a rat.
William Kickett's performance against Tommy Browne was the highlight of the card. William won 6 rounds to 2, thanks to his faster combinations and great evasive work. This fight showed just where William is at now and where this potential can take him.
Tommy was not disgraced, considering a 15 month layoff and a move up a couple of weight divisions and did not back-off once William upped his firepower.
The rise and rise of William continues.

Tony Mundine's gym is in Redfern. He has a house in the Summer Hill area.
By the way, not all of Redfern is slums. The housing on the east side of the railway up towards Bourke Street is considered very desirable. It is one of the closest suburbs to the Sydney Central Business District.
When the tabloid media talks about Redfern they usually mean an area owned by Aboriginal Housing and known as "The Block." The Block takes up less than a quarter of the suburb.
Two bedroom terrace houses in Redfern can sell for upwards of $600,000. A three bedroom home unit in Young Street sold last week for $835,000.

he looked exellent against browne.
here's a question....
if you were willies matchmaker, and you were gonna have say 4 fights lined up next year, who would you go for? you wouldnt want to step up to high in class to quick, but you dont want him fighting stiffs after a good win either
id go for people like allen luxford, mohommed elomar ect

I think mohammed elomar would be carted out of the ring after 2 rounds with willie and that would equate to a step down for him as he has no strength to dictate the pace or style of a fight, he was outpointed by a technically inept Matt Powell just because Powell set the speed of the fight, also Powell's street brawling tactics frustrated him..
However i think Luxford would be an excellent match for him, not as skilled as Tommy Browne but he is a very tough competitior and would pressure test him..
After Luxford I think he would be skilled and experienced enough to beat Lenny Zappa for a once off title fight at lightweight.
He is in a great position being trained and managed by Craig Christian, he can secure alot of fights in Indonesia and elsewhere on Chris John's undercard against top 50-80 opponents at the expense of a big promoter.
Just looking through the boxrec rankings there are a heap of good fighters who are beatable but would give him great experience, personally I think once he leaves Aus for fights he needs to take on tough Mexican and Filipino fighters, that style is the world class style and in those weights, think manny pacquaio, Rey Batista,Diaz Brothers

luxford would be a good tune up,and im wondering why not fight stclair,on his effort against robert oyan was terrible,he should hav stop him in 2. willy would beat stclair on points, willy would stop oyan???now there's a good tune up,lets see wot willie would do to oyanMarlin wrote:Just don't fight St Clair if unless he wants to get KTFO...
I reckon he might go for someone like Jackson Asiku after another 'tune up' .
Well if that doesn't work out im sure that Johnny Lewis would love to train him with Hyder getting him overseas fights in Japan, etc.p4p1 wrote:he may be in a great position with christian promoting him but not with christian as a trainer
Craig Christian does a pretty good job with Chris John, what makes you think he is a poor trainer?
When was the last time he was in jail, You are talking shit and discrediting a good trainer in the process.R_jay wrote:Its hard to improve when your trainer is perpetually in and out of jail.
I have been into his gym and met Craig before and he is a decent guy who trains his fighters well. He has a good stable of fighters at his gym and seems to really help the young fighters who are on there way up.
I dont know what the deal is with Cruz but in his last or second last fight he was dropped badly by a Thai import and i havnt seen him since.
