Featherweights: Danny Lopez vs Eusebio Pedroza

Post by elmersalsa »

A title unification circa 1979-80 between these 2 great featherweights...One was a murderous puncher in Lopez, and the other, a crafty technician like Pedroza.

I pick Pedroza on points in a very interesting match between slugger-puncher vs crafty/boxer :TU: :TU: :TU:

Tough call. Kind of depends on if Lopez's chin holds up. I would pick Pedroza on points. Pedroza was incredibiliy crafty and awkward. :TU:

Here's how the simulator had it.
However I would have bet on Pedroza prime for prime all things equal. But if Lopez was going to win....the sim tells us about the only way he could get it done I suppose.

absurd? yep....and life hands us some absurd outcomes as well. Only a sim on the blink could have given us Braddock over Baer...or Douglas over Tyson...or Tszyu over Zab in 2. Byrd over Vitali via torn rotater cuff. Or how about the 69 Mets?

If fights were just about the betting odds then we wouldn't need the fights.

I would have bet on Pedroza. If you run the sim 20 times Pedroza probably beats Lopez 7 out of 10 is my guess. But fights generally only happen once...so I only run the sim once.

How much faith would you say you place in this simulator of yours, Buzz?
