As for Graham I find the pre-fight talk compared with post fight intriguing.

"Ricky will do XYZ and win and if Mayweather's underestimated Ricky it's great for us etc....".........then later it was "I told everyone he was a lightwelter"

If you don't think you're boxer is a proper WW then why put him in the ring with the widely considered world's best at that EXACT weight ?? I do not believe that BG ever thought Ricky stood a chance.

The answer to your question is - as it almost always is - $$.

Billy was right. His guy was not a true WW. BUT...where was the most $$ to be made? Who could Hatton have fought to get anywhere near the payday afforded him by fighting FM? This is PROFESSIONAL Boxing. Money is and always has been the prime motivation of everyone of note in the game.

Hint - to determine why many of the moves are made in Pro Boxing, look to the money first.

Does anyone know why Billy Graham was screaming his head off as Hatton was entering the ring for the Mayweather fight. Hatton turned away from him giving a gesture with his glove as if to say shut the fcuk up, dont bother me now. I then seen Graham turning and screaming at someone outside of the ring!

Very strange stuff indeed, especially considering it was just minutes before the biggest fight of Hatton's life! Anyone know what this was all about?

Alot of people (friends of Macklin) are saying that Billy was having head fits on the morning of the fight, basically yabbering jibberish when Ricky was trying to get into the zone.. & Ricky saw him in a different light and wondered if he was mentally all there.. seriously.. also Ricky was apparently really pissed off when watching the replay of the fight & seeing that he was 2 rounds up after 6 while Billy was telling him he was 2 rounds down, & how that made him panic (the official scores had him way down, fwiw)..

Ricky looked a little off in the dressing room it's true.

I read elsewhere that Hatton threw cold water over Macklin for coming back to the rented house pi**ed up at 2 in the morning. Apparently he was not happy that Macklin hadn't stayed sober when he, himself, had to. The fact that Billy stayed in a hotel, not the house, would have given him the freedom to go on the razz. Maybe the trainer should "suffer" along with his fighter, as Brendan Ingle used to. I remember reading that Brendan Ingle used to starve himself along with his fighters when they were struggling to make weight. This is all speculation, of course, not fact. I really hope Billy and Ricky stay together. One loss doesn't mean they're no longer a good team.
