Clinton Woods needs a strong trainer

Post by bennie »

Clinton is training with Neil Port for his forthcoming IBF title rematch with Glencoffe Johnson on February 6 after the recent sacking of Tim Witherspoon. Port has worked with Clinton on and off in the past, but seems a convenient choice to replace Witherspoon rather than an ambitious one.
Woods could do with a tried and tested trainer for this crunch rematch.

I raised this on a previous thread, but ..especially viewing his last fight with Johnson, it's Woods' conditioning that never seems to hot in my opinion.

He never appears to be strikingly fit. Perhaps thats just him (as was raised on that thread), but I wonder if he suffers from the British trait of only training six weeks for a fight ...and other than that he's off down the pub & kebab house.

Johnson will beat Woods this time, dont matter who trains him.

They shouldnt have sacked the Spoon, they will regret it. I spent a fair bit of time with him (Tim) in Sheffield during the first fight and he has a very good boxing mind (tactical).

Tim might appear that he just jokes around all the time, but he was urging Woods to fight a different fight last time. Clinton just couldnt do it.

Tim knows a lot of people in the game and had Woods sparring in Philly. Woods will miss that.

Bennie, do you know why Spoon was sacked?
