Who was the made up Jewish fighter created in the '70s ...

Post by joe kurtz »

... by the boxing writer who invented an entire series of wins for him that were eventually picked up by the national newspapers?

I think "his" name was "Bagel Boy" something or other & rumors were "he" even got a world rating based on "his" falsified record. Anyone know if this is true?

Any & all details regarding this will be greatly appreciated.

Mike "Jewish Bomber" Rossman.

I think he really was jewish though......He hammered Victor Galindez to win the LHW title. Then he lost it pretty quickly if I remember right.

I was going to say Mike Rossman as well. His father was Italian and mother Jewish. Had quite a few televised bouts, and appeared to be a decent fighter, but then I remember Qawi dropping him with a left hook, and he sat against the ropes till he was counted out. The TKO win over Galindez was a big surprise, but than Victor beat him in the rematch.

A boxing historian named Elliott Harvith -I believe that was his name- started sending out bogus press releases that stated something like:

Mills Junction, Wyoming- Sol "Bagel Boy" Nazerman scored his seventh KO in a row by disposing of heavyweight Muhammad Sanchez at 56 seconds of the first round.

There was no Bagel Boy it was just a way to prove that you could build up a fighter even if the fighter did not exist.

Some papers published it and when he had a dozen or so KOs, he even sent out a photo of Abe Simon with a beard and mustache painted on, claiming it was the Bagel Boy.

The hoax went on until the Bagel Boy retired undefeated and all boxing historians had a good laugh.

Braxton landed HUNDREDS of punches in a one sided beating.

It was amazing Rossman stayed up as long as he did.

The first time Rossman was down for a ten count.

That was Braxton's best fight (possibly).
