Willie - now I know your name. What happened in your bout with Andre Gorges? What was the result/score? He is a pretty good boxer so that will be a very good learning experience for you.the_boxer wrote:I WON MY 1ST FIGHT AGAINTS SOMEBODY FROM WISCONSIN 31-21 , THEN MY SECOUND FIGHT SOME GUY FROM TEXAS 18-6, THEN SEMI FINALS STOPED Alvin Santiago, Elizabeth, N.J., THEN FINALS LOST TO NUMBER 2 RANKED ANDRE GOERGUS FROM CANADA, IF ANY OF YALL SEEN MY FIGHTS OUT THIER MY NAME WILLIE PRICE
I know you lost by a W/O in the Detroit GG to Dominique Dolton. What happened - failed to make weight or what? Have you ever boxed Dominique? He too is a very good boxer and would be a good learning experience for you also.
BTW - how many bouts of experience do you have?
It doesn't really matter, he is an open-class boxer either way.boxmel wrote:Yep - there's one of the reasons not to have exhibitions. 20 recorded bouts and 50 exhibitions that I'll bet are not in Willie's book. That's an unfair advantage when trying to make matches - do you say Willie's had 70 bouts? Or just 20 bouts?
Willie, did you box in Chicago or did you box in another country? I knew boxers from other countries where they had sparring sessions that they considered "exhibition bouts".
The other thing is; what about guys who are in that in between stage; they're open class but have less than 20 fights? According to his passbook, Willie only has 20 fights; and some coach might throw someone with 13-15 fights in there with him; and in all likelihood Willie will eat them up because he's way more experienced than the passbook suggests. I think after 20-25 fights the difference in amount of fights becomes less pronounced, but before then, it can still be a big deal.
Who is Blue? Do you mean Leandre WHITE? Yes Andre does have a lot of experience. In 2002, when Andre was 17 and had 15 bouts, he boxed a guy from our gym in a close bout. I knew then that he was a decent boxer who had a chance of becoming very good. I have seen him box on several occasions over the years.the_boxer wrote:i sparred j'leon alot mabey like 3 or 4 times and sparred with blue , but never boxed domoqnuie, well andre from canada has 150 fights but all those bouts helped me deal with it, and yeah im going to the pals and at ringside jersey team wants me to join they team when they face off in the Bahamas
I hope you get the international experiece. Take advantage of every opportunity to gain that experience.

O Connell is very good, Canadian Junior champion, 7 time provincial champion, 4 time Western Canadian Champion, Bronze at this years senior nationals, and of course he won the tournament, so if you lost a bs decsion against him with only a week of training then Id love to see you fight once you get back into the swing of things.Unit wrote:i lost in the semi's of the 132 open Class to a canadien Named Cameron O'Connell......but everyone saw the fight so i'm not gonna get into it......but i feel as tho i should have been in the finals......but i'm not to mad i only trained for 1 week and a half after being inactive since july of 2006.....but i definatly dont think i lost...all 3 judges had me down by 1 point at the end of it...My little brother Tramaine Mighty Midget" Williams won at 95 JO....making that his 7th national title....SO either way the belt came home with me....LOL
