I would say that the most important parts of that article are that:

a. Floyd is friends with Cuban

and

b. Cuban, whilst already hugely successful, has a fledgling MMA company

It is more than likely that Mayweather is giving his mate's new company a bit of free publicity. I hadn't heard of HDNet Fights until five minutes ago, so it's working!

I saw this in the current scene, its not gonna happen, Floyd just wouldnt cut it in MMA and I dont think they could really generate the money to attract Mayweather.

Why would Mayweather want to go from the absolute pinnacle in one sport, boxing, to being an also ran in a sport like MMA?

His ego wouldnt allow it

Floyd would get eaten alive, he'd be an incredibly weak lightweight in MMA, even at a sub-strandard company like M1 or WEC.

I train at Sol Gilbert's gym sometimes and I had so much respect for them after I saw him train. MMA hasn't had a profile steroid issue yet, Boxing has. Toney for example.

MMA is partly responsible for the amazing 6 months we've had in boxing.

Thought there was in the US though, which is a bigger market. Could be wrong though, especially with Lidell's problems at the moment.

The vast vast majority of MMA events in America, and all of the main ones, fall under the auspices of the athletic commissions and as such are subject to testing.

UFC, when holding events in Europe, do their own in house testing which is performed by Mark Ratner.

And there has been failures in the UFC; Josh Barnett, Tim Sylvia, Hermes Franca and most recently the lightweight champ Sean Sherk who has just been stripped of his title by the UFC.

This is just Mayweather giving some publicity to his celebrity buddy's latest venture.

The performance enhancing drug testing in MMA is no more efficient than that found in World's Strongest Man. All but the most stupid know what products to use to avoid detection - in the organisations where detection is even attempted.

This is not actually the case. All MMA shows in the US fall under the auspicies of the State Athletic commision of the state in which the fight takes place, just as is the case with boxing.

As we all know the Nevada State Athletic Commission leads the way in many areas such as safety and drug testing. The majority of UFC shows take place in Vegas and fall under the strigent regulation of the Nevada commission.

Japan's organisations such as (formerly) Pride, K-1 etc do not drug test their fighters but all the American promotions have mandated testing as per the state commission rules.

Many top UFC and MMA guys are roiding and many top boxers do too. I'd say its lesser in boxing but many do and its pretty obvious if you know what to look for

mayweather would be silly to do it.... as for rolling around on the floor there is alot of skill involved i used to train for mma but then i went back to boxing after a knee op i prefer boxing but mma is a hard sport to do
