The ONE fight you most want to see in 2008?

Post by Neri »

For me and i'll bet many others, it's Cotto Vs. Mayweather. Besides Paul Williams due to his height and workrate more than his skills, I see Cotto as the only man in and around welterweight who can beat Mayweather. It would be a great match up.

I'd be interested in hearing other's suggestions.

Cotto-Mayweather for me too. I've been watching a lot of the Cotto fights I have in my collection recently and the more I watch the more I see a potential ATG and the man who will take Floyd's "0".

Other fights I want to see:

Pac-JMM 2 (already signed)
Juan Diaz-Katsidis (cancelled for now)
Froch-Kessler
Pavlik-Taylor 2
Pac/JMM/Guzman-Edwin Valero
AAA-any of the above 4 (reality check!)
Linares-Luevano
Lynes-Olusegun
Harrison-Foster Jr.
Macarinelli-a world-class cruiserweight
Khan-Thaxton

One fight i want to see is Wayne Elcock (british champion) vs Matt Macklin.
This would be a massive local deby in birmingham for the british title with the winner looking at a euro title shot.
Would sell out no doubt and be a great night for midlands boxing.
Id love to see this one.

One fight: Cotto v Mayweather

Others are:
Williams v Cintron
Diaz v Katsidis v Guzman
Pacman v JMM
Pavlik v Taylor II
Calzaghe v Hopkins
Haye v Macca (bad move for Haye, but I'm selfish)
Hatton v Witter
Khan v Thaxton
Dawson v Woods
Marquez v Vasquez III
Peter/Maskaev v Ibragimov/Klitschko (to finally get a undisputed champ)

Not a lot then!

Cotto v Maywether. Lets see the best fight the best, if its like the fight with Mosley though i'd rather it not happen. big expectation, anti climax.

As improved as Cotto is - he will get totally smashed by PBF.

Love how everyone has interpreted "the ONE fight.." as "the TWELVE fights.."

I'm not sure I can think of one fight I want to see above all others. I think Diaz vs. Katsidis will be a great spectacle, but often the best fights are ones that aren't even on your radar at the start of a given year.

I don't think Mayweather really needs to be anyone else to prove himself at this point. I like Cotto, but for me he would lose like all the rest. It'd be nice to have some big unification fights at welter though as you could throw any of the top guys in that division together and have an interesting fight.

Mayweather-Cotto, just so PBF can cement his place as the best fighter of the last ten years, bar none.

Mac - Haye. No competition for excitement.
