How good do you guys think he is?

I think he's a good boxer but I hope to God that Kevin Mitchell takes the BBBofC British super featherweight belt of him.

Lost all of his big fights for me - Leva Kirakosyan (twice) and Koba Gogoladze.

I think his American training and compact punching makes him formidable British level. But as you say his losses are to Euro level guys who are decent, if nothing special. Think he could have beaten Arthur, and done a bit better than Foster Jr.

Would love to see Johanesson v Gomez (again), Foster or Arthur, after he canes Mitchell.

He looked shot against Kirakosyan, but I was impressed by his composure in the face of Gomez's initial onslaught. I think he's still got quite a bit to offer and will give Mitchell a good fight. Don't want to pick a winner, but Mitchell is clearly the fresher one and that will probably be a factor.

Johannesen is a very good fighter but maybe at domestic level only - I think he beats Mitchell in a surprise KO - I say surprise because I think most will go with Mitchell - A win over Mitchell will get his career back on track for maybe a crack at AA who I believe he can possibly beat after seeing the Foster fight - That would take him a bit beyond domestic if he could do that.

I'm gonna go to this fight, it should be a cracker, particularly with Anthony Small and Tak on the undercard.

Looking at the two, I reckon Johannsen is bigger and stronger, whilst MItchell should be fresher.

Good test for Mitchell, he wont have it all his own way thats for sure.

I fancy Mitchell by decision, though Carl's style and strength could get him a surprise KO victory.

I cant wait.

On the undercard I reckon Small will slaughter Tak.

Mitchell will have to give his best ever performance. He's lost composure in fights he was dominating, at least 2 or 3 times now. His guard becomes non existant, he trades and he gets nailed, and his own shots become less accurate. Carl won't let him get away with that.

Johanneson looks mentally fragile to me at times. I do think he has a slight edge against Mitchell though, based on his power and greater experience. It is a fight that could really go either way, but if I was betting I would favour Johanneson at this point.

I really can't make my mind up about a winner in the Johannesson-Mitchell fight, which has to be a good thing. Mitchell has been moved unbelievably slowly, but shows signs of real class in flashes, whereas Johanneson looks brilliant at British level, then falls apart stepping up to European class.

This fight should tell us plenty about Mitchell though, because I can't believe Johannesson will let him get away with forgetting his defence and leading with his face. Should be a cracking fight. If pushed, I tihnk Mitchell takes a hard-fought win, climbing off the canvas at some point.

Maybe so - but how will Carl react to being hit himself - my own belief is that Carl takes too many and I still have a suspicion about his abilities to take a decent shot.

We shall see Spud, we shall see. I think it's a tough fight for both guys. If I'm wrong, I'll hold my hands up. After all, you've been wrong before.....

May be a bit biased as I really like Mitchell, but I think he'll stop Carl late on.

He freezes. The second Kirakosyan fight was a prime example - as soon as the first bell went, his whole body seemed to size up. At British level, where he knows he can acheive, he shoudn't have that problem, and I can see him hitting just a bit too hard for Mitchell, maybe forcing a late srounds stoppage.

The Johanneson who smashed up all in his path to win the british title is not the guy who's fighting under the same name now. From what i hear, he's not even using a proper trainer as he wants to save the expense. i saw him spar a week before his last Euro title fight and it was painful to watch. everyone in the gym knew what was going to happen.

a fit, well-trained and guided johanneson would murder mitchell for my money. but if it's the CJ who's boxed the last two fights - including his awful performance against a completely shot gomez - then mitchell wins easily - stoppage around about round 4. it's a real shame and the old, old boxing story of a little bit of money turning a lot of heads ...

I'd really prefer to see a trivial pursuit game between Gavin Rees and Johanneson......

And the betting on how long the game would last (I reckon at least a month.)

I thought you did, this is a tough fight for both men and on paper very even - How can you suggest its one sided - Mitchell has been fed some wallys to pad his record out - This time he is in a real fight with a guy who can punch as well as he can - Nobody can be really sure of the outcome but I think Carls strength will give him the slight upperhand and I see him getting a KO win.

By all means criticise Johanneson for his shambolic performance against Kirakosyan where he was never at the races but I don't see what was wrong with Carl's win over Gomez. He tucked up well to whether the early onslaught and gradually broke Gomez down for an excellent win. It seemed as though he responded to being taken under Frank Maloney's wing.

I understand, however, that Johanneson hasn't been preparing under Maloney for the Mitchell fight which seems another curious decision by Carl. Does anyone know where Johanneson is training for this one? I would concede that if Johanneson isn't 100% focused he's in big trouble.
