One amateur surprisingly not turning pro is Will Roskinsky. He is going to become a physical education teacher, and still is going to continue to fight as an amateur.

Good for Will! It's a pleasure to see that one of our young men has other goals in mind. He's a good rolemodel!!! And will undoubtedly make a great teacher.

He has struggled a bit over the last year or so at the national tournaments. I'm sure training at the elite level has been hard for him while continuing his college education.

He said that he doesn't want to get hit in the head with the small gloves which is understandable. Further, he has probably seen many pros struggle while not making a lot of money and having tough fights. It is a tough sport/business. Will would have been an exciting pro, but I don't fault him for making the decision he has made.

Will Rosinsky sticking around in the amateur ranks will be a big boon for the NY GG fans. It is always nice to have familiar faces in the tournaments. However, there will be a bunch of young bucks trying to knock Will off his pedestal. Lots of fun.

That's what husts US amateur boxing when good young boxers like Hylon turn pro. If USA Boxing could only come up with some serious money to keep these guys amateur. Amir Khan was offered the equivalent of about $200,000 a year to stay amateur but he still turned pro. I think US boxers would stick around for a shot at the Olympics for that kind of money. Of course Amir had already won a silver in the Olympics so I can't blame him for turning pro.

Hylon has a twin right Mel. 200 grand as an amateur that's great money. Kahn was quite a talent and a nice kid to boot. He was in LA. for the Jr Olympics and beat Ortiz in the finals. I can't remember if it was a mercy rule or Ortiz's corner just didn't let him come out for the 3rd.

He doesnt have a twin. He has a younger brother who won the national silver gloves a couple of years back named Devonte.

In checking, I only had the first day's results. Just printed out all three days. Thanks - but you must admit, you did jump from Hylon William's brother to Kahn and Ortize in the same breath. Totally confused me! :P

Yes Congratulation Danny, We are proud of you. Amir Kahn fought on the UK team. Since I was one of the only people there with a car, I took kids everywhere, including the England team. We all got to know each other well and would kid and carry on about who would beat who. They all came up to me just before the bout and said in thier English accent, "Hey coach, I'llbetcha a 50lbs your boy don't go 2 rounds with Amir, no one ever has". I caluclated it to $100 US and took the bet. Even though technically I was representing the Dominican Republic. I am USA through and through. They went at it and Otiz fought hard, he landed some good stuff, but Kahn did take charge aftr catching him with some hard, clean staight 1,2 cobinations with Ortiz on the ropes . The UK kid came running over after the bout with thier hands out, laughing a busting on me. I just said " the bet was 2 rounds Ortiz finished 2 rounds, No money ever did exchange hands , but was a good time.

Mel, I must admit, I don't even know how you guys break out parts of a post and then reply to them. So that is why it looked like I jumped from one topic to another midstream, That and the fact that I am tripolar, a condition that they noticed at my briss.
