Sorry but thats simply not true. The fight could have been made months ago, both Enzo and Haye wanted it and the only reason it didnt happen was one man's greed, allegedly. Instead of making the fight everyone wanted to see, it didnt happen because he couldnt get what he wanted personally from it, namely options on Haye. So he doesnt deserve any praise for making it now when he thinks his man has an advantage.

Its on Setanta by the way!

Impossible to say for sure who hits harder, but it doesn't really matter here, because both certainly hit hard enough to knock the other guy out.

I hope DH doesn't plan on keeping that left hand low like he did in the Mormeck fight, Enzo will be watching for that and it could spell disaster.

I wonder how much Frank had to cough up to get Haye to change his mind. Must be a hell of a decent payday.

Could Enzo make the rounds close, make sure it goes the distance , so that he can get a HOME TOWN, HOUSE FIGHTERS DECISION?? Is this possible?? or will he get injured before the fight??

Will Haye even be able to make weight? Just a thought.

Remember, they picked on Johnny Nelson when JN's legs went. Fight got called off.

Now they pick on Haye when he thought he'd made 200-lbs for the last time already.

Could we have another Castillo-Corrales "3" or a Corrales-Casamayor 3?

I think the truth is its been months in the making, who really knows about the options except those directly involved - The fight is on at last and Warren is at last making better matchups, thats all that concerns me as a boxing fan - Not saying FW should get a medal just a bit of credit for making it happen, whether that involves paying Haye a small fortune I dont really know or care.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Enzo fight a WBO eliminator on the same bill as Johnny's last fight? I'm sure that fight was being lined up before Nelson suffered the injury.

I am realy glad the fight has been made. Hopfuly it is ture that Haye has been in training since the Mormeck fight, if he starts his camp from a better position than last time we can hope for a good camp and I don;t think the weight will be too much of a problem. I think he will be able to KO Enzo, he is just a better boxer and there is nothing Mac has done as a pro or an ametre to persuade me otherwise. Haye used to eat boys with a high guard up all day as an ametre.

Haye should have said "fornicate the belts" and opted for a catchweight!

A catch weight may be more sensible but warren would have been less likely to take it. Haye is blest with ultimate faith in his own ability if he does it, it not only proves him a better fighter but leages ahead of enzo which I think it will.

This must be another day-out to the Millenium Stadium for me. :D

David Haye is going to chin Enzo. The speed and power is with Haye. This should be exciting for however long it lasts.

Great, Great match-up.

According to Steve Bunce on setanta the other day, he said that Haye is walking around at 209lbs and has been keeping inshape incase the Enzo fight did come-off. So looks like he won't need to shed as much weight as for the Mormeck fight where he was walking around at 229lbs before training camp.

I agree with States - Haye's accepted the job, if he was that concerned about his weight he wouldnt and shouldn't take it. He's just knocked out the no.1 cruiser in the world so is more than able of repeating the trick against Maccarinelli. I'd like to praise David for taking the match though.

On another note, some like Haye for his "refreshing honesty" but I think David is prone to exaggerating the truth somewhat. He claims to have been dead at cruiser for a long time but still went through with the Mormeck fight, even though the fight was delayed twice. I also don't think Haye was as badly hurt as he said he was when Mormeck floored him. His legs went momentarily but he regained his senses very quickly and saw out the remainder of the round without major alarm.

Haye is humble enough to admit when he's buzzed but I've never bought the theory that he is totally dead at the weight. It won't be a viable excuse if Maccarinelli sparks him IMO.

Haye took the fight = he's not weight weakened. Good reasoning, Ben.

Haye must really fancy he can do a number on Macca to have accepted the fight with weight issues.

I think it's probably better for boxing if Haye wins, Macca can just win back the WBU belt and carry on defending it for the next 28 years when Haye has moved up.

I don't see why after Haye won and moved up Haye wouldn't be there or there abouts to hoover up the titles Haye drops moving to HW.

Why is everyone getting so excited about this fight FFS?....Enzo got sparked in 3 by Lee Swaby and a shot Bruce Scott had him on queer street & has only fought tomatoe cans since.....at least when Haye gets buzzed it's by genuine World Class fighters.

I bet Gonzo will look awesome predictably sprawled out 1st or 2nd round on the canvas dribbling from his big head.

Gonzo is just another 1 of those "great white hopes" A.K.A bag of overhyped sh!t.

Because Enzo has improved immeasurably. He is a big white man who can fight. He's ready for the big fight and with it being Haye's last fight at cruiser, a 50-50 fight becomes a 60-40 fight or maybe even 63-35 fight. Enzo can have Calzaghe's following when Calzaghe retires, he looks like the 1 who will fly the sports network flag (can't see Arthur, Mitchell, Pryce doing all that much up at world level) until the next superstar i.e. Khan.

I think that Warren deffinatly wants Mac to take the Calzaghe fans and I genuinly think that he believes he will beat a weight drained Haye. I dissagree, I think that haye is a better boxer who will just hit too hard for enzo.

Does anyone think that Haye has been talking up his weight problems in order to get this fight made

WHat you mean like all the heavyweight champions???? (ANd fat Peter is an interim champ before you pull that one out.)

And much as I like Haye, he was still knocked out by a punch drunk Thompson who could barely stand up (admittedly at least dangerous), put down by a shot, old and overrated Mormeck who was never that good, but most worryingly put on severe 'queer street' by Lolenga Mock; a 32 year old (then) ex-middleweight who has a less than 50% knockout ratio.

People in glass houses etc.

Anyway - this is the best domestic fight for years, congratulations for both for taking it.

I believe Haye should be a slight favourite, but is basically a 50-50 fight and one which could be fought 100 times and have 100 different results.

Even if one destroys the other in a round, which is very possible, does not make it any less of a 50-50 fight.

I do think that Haye is a bit better and - at best - fast enough to beat Mac to the punch. But it's a great fight for Mac, especially now.

I actually think his weight woes are genuine. He's been going on about it for too long, IMO.

think both of you have been very harsh to each of the fighters. Be glad that both have improved off bad stoppage losses.

I've sort of thought the same. I think Haye's trouble in making weights is more to do with his fondness for lifting weights in training camp. After all, he was making 190 a few years ago.

Against Mormeck, Haye's upper body looked absolutely huge compared to how he looked just a couple of years ago, he's obviously been on a serious programme to build muscle mass, and this is not going to make it easy to stay under the weight, nor is it going to enhance his stamina, no matter how much running he does. Those big oxygen-demanding muscles could prove his undoing if the fight goes beyond the first few rounds.

How much did Haye weigh before he started training for Mormeck?

He's probably (or hopefully) kept his weight low since KOing Mormeck.

Agreed about the physique. The weight making problems could be partly his own doing, by building his muscles so big. He just seemed to get steadily bigger after the Thompson loss...He used to look very lean, when he was knocking out the likes of Arthur Williams.

As a Haye fan I wish he'd just moved straight up to heavy after winning the world titles.
