Who's the boxer in Big Brother
Not that I give even the slightest toss about the show, but I just noticed in today's Metro there's a boxer in the line-up, but the article didn't say his name. He looked familiar but I couldn't place him.

Anthony, 19, from Suffolk
Talent: Boxer
Anthony is an international boxer who has captained Great Britain's team in the world, European and junior Olympic tournaments. He won the junior Olympics in 2004 and was crowned world under 17 champion in 2005. He hopes to represent Great Britain in the 2008 Olympics. He says he would like to become world champion one day but also wouldn't mind becoming the first mixed race James Bond. His boxing name is 'Beautiful Brown Suga'.

If he wants to go to the Olympics then he'd better concentrate on that instead of getting caught up in this bollocks.Wales wrote:Anthony, 19, from Suffolk

Then again, it's instant fame for him with the Heat and Star readers. The bimbos in my office might watch boxing in future if he's on the bill!

Quite how he constitutes a celebrity (like the others in there) is beyond me.
EDIT: Oh, I see, proper celebs like Jimmy Carr & matt Lucas then "12 gifted young stars" in other words blow the budget on the big star and draft ina no mark, reminds me of how a certain prometion delt with a certain british boxer .

The man himself said he wanted to be the first mixed race James Bond.Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:Tut tut Oliver, the correct term is now "Multiracial". Is there a pic of him in the metro?
And I'm mixed race myself, as I have a Welsh mum and an English dad. At least that's what my fellow Welshmen would like me to say ;) ("There should be a tick-box for Welsh under 'Ethnicity' on my census form, grumble grumble, don't make Welsh jokes, that's racist, moan moan")
I'm the same mate (Irish/Italian). My mates Carribean/Italian and he still refers to himself as "half-cast". I would correct him, but he's a former Amateur Champ and would kick my ass.oliverfennell wrote:The man himself said he wanted to be the first mixed race James Bond.Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:Tut tut Oliver, the correct term is now "Multiracial". If he uses the term, then there's no problem. I've heard black and "multiracial" people use the term half-caste.Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:I'm the same mate (Irish/Italian). BTW I don't really consider myself mixed race, I was being facetious. Welsh people are white, not a different race. There's an argument for different nationality, but not different race. Even though I was born and raised in Wales, I still always thought and still do think it's ridiculous when Welsh people trot out the race card.
Agreed mate. At the end of the day we all sht the same!oliverfennell wrote:If he uses the term, then there's no problem. I had an English grandad and a Polish Grandad and I have a Welsh nan and Scottish nan, so at least I've got someone to cheer on in the Euros. Polska forever!!!
I was well racked off when they cancelled this years Celebrity BIG Brother, I didn't realise they'd replaced it with something similar til I read this thread. BONUS![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

could the term mixed race be banned on this site please as i'm getting very upset for those poor unfortunate wonderful people who have just ended up, through no fault of theirs, with a....DUAL HERITAGE.
are boxers of boxing fathers of "DUEL" HERITAGE????
my 7 year old daughter is "mixed race" - her term, "beautiful" - my term
(you all should see her you'd all agree

What exactly is offensive about the term mixed race. It's a mix of two or more races. Plain. If anybody is offended by it, it suggests it is THEY who have the problem, as if they don't want to admit to it, or are ashamed by one of their components (or heritages).
Is "dual" different to "mixed". Why so? Is "race" not an aspect of "heritage"? Is "race" an offensive word? Who so? Heritage also does not necessarily encompass race. I am mixed "heritage" but single race.
"Mixed race" is a valid description of somebody's appearance.

I agree, its all political correctness gone mad. What was offensive about 'Baa Baa Black Sheep' or that Black geeza on the Marmalade jars or the 'Union Jack', how these could offend anyone is beyond meoliverfennell wrote:What exactly is offensive about the term mixed race.
