setanta schedule for the next few months
great effort from setanta. sad to see sky letting things slip away so badly. a lot of fighters are going to get isolated. sports network are getting a bit of a monopoly. i just hope frank doesn't have to much of a say in the international bouts. don't want to see him controlling what we are watching. so long as things dont get too insular and self serving...

I'm well pleased with that......I thought Skelton -Chag was next up but there's about 4 good little fights on before then.
I'm not going to bother cancelling my subscription anymore, there's no point.
Not at all fussed if it's 15minutes delayed either........what am I gonna do pick up a newspaper only for the result to spring into view thereby ruining my enjoyment of the fight. Not very likely.
As regarding the attractive blonde lady off the morning footy show, I'm with anyone that "definitely would" on this one. And, unlike others, I am not ashamed of it.

It's also cheaper, so I'm all for it if they have a tight budget. I'd much rather they show all fights on delay, instead of 10 live.stujones wrote:I don't mind a 15 minute delay - as long as they show the whole US telecast (which they haven't at times).... week delays though is not so good? They all seem to be relatively live - although I aint 100% sure.

Not good news at all. I, like a lot of you, pay 37 quid a month to Sky just for the boxing. Instead of trying to compete with Setanta's sterling effort, it would seem they're just withdrawing further from the sport. Very unsatisfactory from a subscription TV company with 4 dedicated sports channels (1, 2, 3, Extra), especially in light of the fact boxing has recently been enjoying its highest profile in a long time.Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:No other words for that other than impressive.
A mate of my Missus is the Commercial Director of Sky Sports and I asked him about boxing for the next year. He said they're scaling down their international fights, keeping domestic, and thinking of getting more MMA other than Cage Rage. Possibly WEC.

I'm sure he will be delighted that you have come on here and revealed he has been letting out company secrets...Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:No other words for that other than impressive.

Also, I've noticed that Boxing is back on channel 5 again (Sunday). Hopefully it'll be Guinn's FNF.
That's not a bad comparison actually! I find her a tough one. She's 50% close to being really fit, but 50% close to being like one of those readers wives you see in the back of the Sport.Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:Was £14.99 for all sports channels I think.sweetscience wrote:right thats it - sky sports is being cancelled - fook all boxing on & lovejoy has left soc cer am
anyone know how much they kncok off your bill
Can't believe LoveJoy has left. No reason to watch Soccer AM now as Helen is looking a bit Fishmonger's Wife lately.

I hope Setanta shell out for the full PPV telecast on the Taylor v Pavlik 2 card, the undercard is loaded:
Fernando Montiel vs. Martin Castillo
Christian Mijares vs. Jose Navarro
That is the sort of boxing card that makes following the sport so great!
Sky Sports had better pull their finger out or I will cancel my subscription purely on a point of principal.

Re: setanta schedule for the next few months
Pure Quality. Frank said if you wanna see the best Boxing watch Setanta. He was bang on about that.
Remember Calzaghe v Hopkins may well be added to that schedule, and I have a feeling, just a feeling mind, that we might see Amir on Setanta before long.
What with FNF coming back on Channel 5 boxing is booming.
Time to cancel SKY I think
It is good although I still feel a bit robbed in that these fights should have been on Sky and any leftovers picked up by the other channels.
I thought I would be getting most decent scraps via Sky, that was the deal when I signed up. Now it's an extra £10 for Setanta.
What happens when the next channel pops up next year and the boxing gravitates over there?
One could even imagine a conspiracy scenario where Sky are actually complicit in all this because it's a way of pumping extra dosh out of us...

Look Setanta are doing damage to Sky in the UK , everyone slagged the life outta them when the first came to 28 east (sky digital) stating they would only be fighting for scraps that Sky have thrown the rest to fight over.....
They've now got Premiership in the UK (with sky) and if your living in Ireland your getting 3pm kickoffs live too. The Boxing has been getting better up 'til now but looking at this Schedule for the start of '08 - for me there destroying Sky - in fact a friend of mine who works with Sky is saying its actually starting to take away Subscribers from them.
Boxing fans have seen Sky shy away from Big US fights for the last few years and Setanta are jumping on that now...
All in all I think its a Win Win for the Boxing fan to have 1 of these Networks dominating Coverage of Boxing so that were not out of pocket subscribing to the 2 of them!!!

I call them to cancel (still on the phone as I type this as it was this thread that reminded me to call them) and mentioned that everyone else seems to be paying £9.99 per month and thye say "oh yes we can drop that down for you sir, would you like that?"![]()
"Er no it's ok, I'd prefer to carry on paying the extra fiver to be honest, I prefer to pay more for things, makes one appreciate it that bit extra don't you find?"
buggers are still charging 15 quid.
and everywhere i see advertisements for a tenner a month. :x
