I think if you have to do weights and boxing on the same day, do boxing first, then weights later, assuming being a better boxer is more important than your weight training, a short plyometrics or strength session is not to bad, but if your really pushing it you are not going to perform to your best at boxing, so once again it comes down to priorities.

i know michael jordan used to do a plyometrics drill before games to wake up his body and help it recruit the fast twitch muscle fibers better, so it can be beneficial if it is very short and explosive

Hello Mark. Just a question for you, Do you still hold you hands under your chin when you fight?

Been a few fights since I seen you last.

Cheers

knightshadeau, not as much, it has it pros and cons, i feel i generate alot more power from that position when im punching, but my defense is not as good, so now i hold them a little higher and switch to left hand low stance sometimes to get a breather and it changes the angle of the jab.

Marlin, glad you enjoy it, im hoping boxing fans might learn a few things about what pro fighters do beyond the actual fight

uploading some pics now of me and dawson sparring

Dawson is preparing for a k1 fight with mike zambidis, so he trains like he will fight, if he was throwing elbows and knees i think id be in some trouble as i have absolutely no experience with that stuff

I was being facetious, mate. I just think you should be fighting better boxers than the Tutaki Express.

dominator wrote:Hi everyone, i get alot of questions regarding training, mostly weight training, I am fighting jan 26 in Jakarta Indonesia, the opponent is Richard Tutaki and the fight is 4 rounds, Chris John undercard. I am going to do a blog so people can see how i train in detail.

http://markdemori.blogspot.com/

check it out when you get a chance, any suggestions welcome, and if any other pro fighters want to use my blog to post how they train that would be great.

Good stuff an good luck with Tutaki and breaking into the US scene

Hello Mark,

Which fighters out there who are weighing around 100kgs who you rate as 'super fast' ?

You must be energized after watching Alex Leapai win the OPBF title. I think you'll do well in the States, it is about time we had a good Australian heavyweight out there! Good luck! :TU:

Meehan has won more fights in the States than he has lost. Many people consider him unlucky to lose to Brewster.

I'm glad Kali is doing well, he is a good fighter though I have him more as a Kiwi than an Aussie... a Fijian born Kiwi at that! :P

Carlos, thanks for the support, seeing Alex win the opbf was good, because i knew when i fought him he was one tough sob and getting a draw with him was more showing he had something rather than me slipping.

meehan is clearly the best heavyweight from this region, i always try and watch his fights, i sparred him once and it was a great experience to ge tin the ring with someone like him

Meehan is an Australian citizen. He has been Australia based for most of his professional career.
