KHAN’T WAIT

KHAN’T WAIT

“Be a man Amir or my name for you will be the Bolton Bottler !”

· Thaxton vs Khan for the prestigious British & Commonwealth Titles

· Purse bids to be held Wednesday 9th January 2008 at Midday at the British Boxing Board of Control.

· One Day to go and I’m still counting!
[/b]

John Thaxton would just like to make it clear that tomorrow’s purse bid has now been made for both the British and Commonwealth titles.

John goes on to explain:

"Where I’m British Champion, I’m also mandatory for Khan’s Commonwealth title, so the board and commonwealth council have been really fare and made this a 50/50 split with both titles on the line. If Khan bottles it and pulls out of this purse bid and still continues to fight on February 2nd then not only will he lose his right to fight for the prestigious British Title, he should definitely be stripped of his Commonwealth Title”

“I believe that the recent major upsurge in British boxing is down to British boxers, fighting for traditional belts like the British and Commonwealth titles. I hope Khan does not do these titles a disservice and start fighting for interalphabetty titles. After calling me out and disrespecting me I believe Amir and his team know that in a 12 round fight I’m bound to catch him clean, knock him spark out and it will be curtains Khan.”

“I hope that ITV do the right thing in my opinion and insist on traditional titles and follow a similar policy that SKY has implemented which has obviously worked very well for British boxing.”

CHAMPIONSHIP CIRCULAR

BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIPS

LIGHTWEIGHT JONATHAN THAXTON (Holder) v AMIR KHAN

Purse offers for the above contest have been called for and will be opened by the Chairman following the closing time of 12.00.noon on Wednesday, 9th January 2008.

However, there are exceptional circumstances relating to this purse offer which are as follows:-

1. By agreement with the Commonwealth Boxing Council, which has mandated Amir Khan to defend his Commonwealth Championship against Jonathan Thaxton, the purse bid will be split 50/50 between Champion and Challenger for each Championship.

The Commonwealth Boxing Council has ruled that the British Boxing Board of Control bid can be accepted as a Commonwealth Boxing Council bid as well.

2. Notice has been given by Promoter allegedly that Commonwealth Champion Amir Khan is scheduled to take part in a contest at the Excel Arena, London on 2nd February 2008. Accordingly the contest cannot take place prior to the 2nd March 2008 but must take place by the end of April 2008.

John speaks alot of sense.

Lets hope Amir and co are going to go the traditional route, judging by the amount of publicity Hennessey and Wellington are giving to these purse bids they don't seem too confident that FW and Amir will be tabling a bid, also the fact that Amirs next bout against the light-punching Dane is a WBO eliminator  doesn't bode well.

I don't think the 50/50 split will particularly appeal to Fwank either as he will be thinking he holds all the cards. Reckon there'll be a follow up 'Bolton Bottler' press release on Thursday.

"The Board have been fare." Shouldn't that be 'fair?'Really Wellington, you really must take your time when writing your press releases otherwise it's bad reflection on your paymaster.

Incidentally, make sure he spells everything in his purse bid right, completes the contracts properly and knows that the purse bid is in Pounds Sterling and not Euro's. Remember: British titles = Pounds - European titles = Euros. Also, Khan is spelt KHAN.

Trains leave for Cardiff from Paddington at 9.30am, 10am and 10.30am so don't be late.

As much as I want the fight to happen a 50-50 split hardly seems fair in terms of who the draw is, does it?

Boxingchat appears to indicate Mr Warren will be bidding for the fight, perhaps teh bout is to follow on from the Dane in feb.

As always you dodge the real issue!
The real question is...will your boy Amir and your so called so called "paymaster" have the balls?

By the sounds of your lame post I seriously doubt it.
When the best you can come up with is about grammar and spelling, I am sure everyone can read between the lines...you lot are going to pull out!
You obviously don't have the balls, so now Be a good girl and go fetch Joan Rivers another cup a tea.

Thaxton should be relieved It hasn't gone to purse bids yet.

He'll see nothing but speed coming at him. :o

Thaxton's a puncher but he's too Intent on going for the KO. Only a world level fighter will test Khan.

Limond would spank Thaxton.

Limond was patient, accurate and kept a tight enough defence and slipped under to get close.

Just because someone Is a puncher doesn't mean he has the power to win. Stewart of blasted by Khan.

Thaxtons a hard man
it's a good fight
yes Jon has to be the underdog , but that's what make this bout interesting.

I just thik Amir needs to back up his talk, you can't disrespect a man
then run away and be called a real Champion.

It would be a great fight- I think Khan would edge it, but if Thaxton does win, then no big deal. Khan can come back from a loss stronger, more experienced etc. Too much is placed on the " Undefeated " tag nowadays.

As for Thaxton, a loss would probably end a decent career, a win might set up something bigger. For sure, he would be unlikely to win it, but a payday none the less.

So yeah- I really hope this happens.

I dont think Amir needs this fight, not if his current match-up can get him to a world title fight quicker. Thaxton doesnt impress me.
