Can anyone tell me where i can get a bout!!!!!

I have been boxing for a while now but not competitevely.I cannot stand wearing a headguard so being an Amateur is outta the question!.I dont want to be a pro either as i do not want to be a full time boxer so unlicensed is the only way forward. I happen to live in Weston-super-Mare where we are not blessed with Unlicensed promoters or shows so can anyone help me/guide me on where i can get a bout please.

So what you want is a fight. Do you realise how dangerous that is having never been in the ring?

At 6ft 4 im surprised an amateur can reach your head.

Exactly what I was thinking.

At 6ft 4 you could do well in the ams as a welter.

Very funny lol.I cant wear a headguard its really irritating and i always manage to get caught in sparring but without one i box a lot better.As for the danger side of this arent most unlicensed bouts only 3 rounder's anyway refereed by amateur ref's?

I hate wearing headguards but it is currently part of the am game - aren't they reviewing that? I am sure most ams will tell they box much better without a headguard. How old are you?

You don't have to be full-time to be pro. In fact, the great majority of pros are not full-time.

Really your options are pretty limited - either get used to a headguard or just
got to your local amateur club and say "all I want is some sparring". Some clubs do non-head gear sparring... not a practise I recommend, but it happens.

Im 21 mate and i have waited too long now to get in the ring and its fecking doing my head in!!

Plus i wanna get paid for the privilege of being punched lol

Get sanigar on the phone or go and see him. I am sure if you CAN box he will give you some advice, etc.

That was quite funny actually. All i wanna do is get in the ring.I dont wanna be a journeyman just a few unlicensed bouts will do me at venues like Caesars in my home town of Streatham(London) as i know they put on shows quite a bit there!!

If you just want a fight, go to Yeovil on a Saturday night, stand at the bar in Chicago Rock looking as innocent as possible - I guarantee somebody will start a fight with you.

I would suggest that by the time you cover your travelling costs for going to Streatham you wouldn't actually make any money - hence it is a waste of time.

How long have you been training in Weston - do you actually spar??

Mate - I've beent o Weston for a couple of shows where there's been unlicienced - i think that were called fight club or something like that.

My mate twice fought a local lad called Shame Main (?), he must be around your wieght.

I was thinking that Weston probably does get a few shows - I remeber they used to get quite a few shows - wrestling, boxing, etc.

Yeah Shane Main is a good fighter with a lot of experience but thats kickboxing and theres no boxing at the Weston fight club shows just cage fighting etc.

I dont train in Weston(not even going in to why!!).And yes i have sparred for the last 3 years with heavier fighters usually the same height as me.

You're wrong, my mate box'd him twice. I think that they had a kickboxing licience, but got around it by not using legs

Unless something dramatic has changed, I saw loads of other boxing there all unlicienced. This was int he summer of 06, so it might be worth giving them a bell.

There's Sanigar and Woodward as far as training goes. For fights in Weston I only know of the Hutton Moor Leisure Centre nights, but that's not straight boxing. I don't think there's ANY money down the unlicensed route; not around your way.

Tony Hay is the main promoter in Bristol. I think I'd recommend getting down to Tex's gym and asking him to take a look at you. Unless you're genuinely committed to the sport you're looking for trouble though, despite the fairly poor regional standard.

Only wanting a handful of fights doesn't mean half-assed training will do. You're not a fool so remember the dangers.

George Katsimpas would probably give you a good test, if he's willing to spar. Here's a contact.
