Thanks for your response, dont know if it is the same weekend, this is our annual fund raiser for the club we usually draw between 650-750 people for the dinner/boxing show and each one has been fantastic, all jersey kids on the card. we have hosted England, Ireland and the Island of Jersey UK and most recently Puerto Rico. The money raised by this event supports our club and allows us take a team overseas to compete and it is a great time for the athletes. We have taken teams to the Island of Jersey and Puerto Rico the last two years.

The U.S. Championships are March 9th to 16th. Are you looking for boxers for the show, or pre-matching with your own and/or from your LBC/area?

We are pre-matching the bouts with several of our own boxers and the rest of the card will be from the LBC. Its always a great night
Thanks

It sounds like a great event and a lot of fun. :D

I'd also be careful about calling yourself an "Olympic Boxing Training Center" - that sounds very close to the OTC name in Colorado Springs - and could cause confusion.

The correct term would be "Olympic-style Boxing Training Center" but that gets a bit wordy. His title is technically correct since he is teaching Olympic style boxing at a Training Center. If he trains juniors, he could also correctly call it a Junior Olympic Boxing Training Center. I hope it helps the gym get kids in the door. That is what it is all about. If we can increase the numbers, great.

Your show sounds great. Sort of like the one the Harvey Boxing Club puts on annually in Harvey, Illinois. Good luck and keep us posted on the show.

Excellent!

However, and FYI, you cannot use the word "Olympic" as this is a registered word (the the OTC will go after anyone if they find out - I've seen it happen) and you can't say "Junior Olympic" without paying the OTC for the use of the name - this is why Sonny Duncan stopped making JO Championships t-shirts that said "Junior Olympic." Now he just says "Junior."

You can argue, if you choose, but it's fact. :D

Sounds stupid. Amateur boxing is hurting and yet they are going to go after a gym that is trying to market itself by using the correct terminology. Wow.

Hey! I didn't say they are! I said I know of one occasion when they did - probably about 15 years ago when Pepe Reilly's dad wanted to call his gym something using "Olympic" in the name. He got a cease and desist.

Hopefully, they wouldn't today. We need all the gyms we can get according to one unnamed "expert" from the UK. ROFL.

The Amateur show was a great success......Canada brought a strong team and Jersey was right there. 6 bouts won by Canada and 6 bouts for New Jersey. thanks to all who attended and supported the event. :TU: We raised enough money to bring the team to Canada in May for a rematch. Thanks to all, pics on the web site http://www.doverboxingclub.com
