yep.......it cranked up the pressure by a couple of notches.

although personally I would have appreciated a line inserted anywhere in the article indicating who Gavin Evans is. Gavin Evans from down the road at number 83???

is he of the Witter camp? or is he a journo for the BN? and if so why would he be doing Witter's bidding?

I actually could understand Ricky NOT wanting this fight at this stage of his career. He's made his name, banked millions , and stands to get knocked out his rep tainted.........why on Earth would he risk it?

Of course, that doesn't work if you backtrack 6 yrs now does it.

i thought these open letters jobs were for boxers or their camps.

It would have been better if it had come from Junior's lot..........not that there can be any doubt they want it.

Yeah about time - I wonder if BN would have written the same if he was still with Warren though?? You can well imagine a furious FW banning em from the next few shows. Better late than never from BN though...

Names being mentiond for his May date are D Hopkins, Ricardo Torres and Kendall Holt. Can't see it being Torres: too hard punching. Once they watch the DVD of him dropping Cotto a few times, they'll give him a miss for sure.

It'll be one of the other two lightweights - and remember, this is because Rick needs a..... "warm up" before taking on the unimpressive looking Paulie Malignaggi.

At this rate, Witter will be in his 40's before Hatton gets up the nerve to take him on.

Witter KO's Hatton. I always suspected that was the case but after seeing the Mayweather fight I'm truly convinced now.

in a shock climb down from recent posts I've made....if Malignaggi boxed like he did last week I actually think Hatton would beat him. However if he boxed like against N'dou, then I'd go for Pauli.

i'm gonna look on youtube and see if I can see this Torres fella knocking Cotto down "a few times " as you say...........sounds pretty interesting.

cut the lad some slack. He's been in the ring with some tough mothers and won........so what he's worked things in his favour as best he can........he's had Warren in there for most of it.......what should we expect.

no boxer gets it all delivered on a plate though, except maybe his brother.

I'd love to see this fight but for Hatton it makes absolutely no sense does it.......he's a multi millionaire with his faculties intact and 2 thirds of his life in front of him.......he stands to get beat up and knocked out. It's not his life's duty to get punched in the face for our enjoyment IMO.

I know where we're all coming from but if it was me I'd probably do the same. Although as I've said already this argument might work now, but it hasn't worked for the last 6 years. And as for all this business about getting insulted........that's so see through it's pathetic.

You have a point.

Hatton beat an old KT and shot Castillo and he was knocked out by Mayweather.

Maybe he should just come out and say it.

'I WANT NO PART OF JUNIOR WITTER'.

I think Hatton should get credit for wins over tough guys who were on top of their games like Jono Thaxton and Eamon Magee. They weren't tickling contests now

plus don't forget the other angle here...........Hatton got his 20 million with no need for Witter............it could be argued Witter should get on with it and do it without Hatton...........i.e. Hopkins, Torres, Castillo, then say a Mayweather or a Cotto for instance..........hell what about a Judah return.........he could get his revenge as well as box a known star in America, and for Judah he'd stand to get his hands on the World Title.........not rocket science is it.

Can't remember if he actualy put him over, but he certainly had Cotto reeling and out on his feet 4 or 5 times - he was as close to knocking him out as anyone. Fantastic punch up that one, and Cotto showed a real warriors hear to survive.

Highly unlikely

If they are starting this type of baiting then ask/demand that Calzaghe fight Froch and Khan fight Thaxton...or atleast an opponent for Khan that can actually punch

Truth is theres easier money elsewhere...this is proffesional boxing where only rarely does the best fight the best....its about the money.

Hatton is a big star on both sides of the Atlantic now, Witter should maybe take a leaf out of Ricky`s book and bite the bullet and go across the water himself to make his name...to expect Ricky to gamble what he has achieved so far and run the risk of handing it all to Witter is just daft.

Witter is too quick to drop the blame for his mediocre position in the boxing circles on everyone but himself.
Lets not forget he was given a world title chance before which he stank out...his excuse was it was late notice  ... but Zab also had to fight him at late notice...both were in training for a fight so I don`t see that as a credible excuse.
And then he dropped out of a later world title fight at short notice :-?

Witter has been `given` his chances...maybe he should start `making his own` future chances now :TU:

Remember - Witter was a 6 round fighter when he fought Judah.

It is almost the same as putting any 6 round fighter in a peak Mike Tyson.

Judah was touted as the 2nd coming of Pernell Whitaker BUT with Power!

Witter did well to win the 4 rounds MOST gave him!

Wake up, Hatton is SCARED!

I don`t believe Hatton is scared...concerned yes.

But be sensible, if you were in Ricky`s position would you risk potential big money fights on a risky nights work who brings nothing to the table?

If he was only after glory he`d have stayed in the vest...proffesional boxing is about securing your financial future.... look at `Money Mayweather`

I`m not saying I agree with it, or I even like it
Just thats how it works :-?

Hatton has made his money.

The Fans want it.

Witter is the WBC Title Holder and a REAL live active threat.

Hatton hats Live - Active Real threats - UNLESS HE IS PAID which he would be against Witter,

BRITISH BOXING NEEDS HIM TO TAKE THE FIGHT.

Haven't read it yet, but these 'open letters' approach is really weak journalism. It's really tabloid and frankly a bit embarassing.

If I was HAtton I would write back an open letter to EVans telling him to tell him to write a decent article if he wants to preserve his dignity and his low quality poorly paid 'legacy' as a writter.

No way does Hatton need 'I like it up the' Witter for any legacy. Witter has just not achieved that much. Hatton has won world titles at two diffrenet weights, moved up a weight to fight the best fighter of his generation, stopped another of the best at light Welter, won several versions of the world title and can fill arenas with 10s of thousands.

WHat has Witter done to cement his so-called legacy?? Sh1t himself against Judah, got gifted a decision against the Euro-quality KOtelnik and almost lost to decent but not world class COlin Lynes.....

Oh yes he Ko'd Vivian Harris whio also previously got Ko'd by the decidely average Maussa (yes, the same Maussa who HAtton bowled over) and beat DEmarcus Corley who lost his next two and has lost every big fight he's been in...

Sure....it's really vital for Ricky to fight an opponent who has been constantly disrespectful and rude to him (remember the Thaxton fight) and couldn't sell out a toilet...

Witter needs Hatton and not the other way round. WItter knows he needs to payday, the only big one he will ever get.

I can't understand the Hatton hatred that goes on on this board - he has been great for the sport of boxing in this country and revived it when it was in a slump.

I suspect it's a mixture of British loathing of winners and some kind of bizarre hatred of what he represents - IE being white and English and old school.
