Newcastle have to realise they're a mid table team with a mid table squad. There not going to get a player like Shearer for a while because there not going to find a player THAT good and THAT loyal. Which means the championship they so nearly had is now just a memory. Sad but true. Myself im a Palace fan and have to realise that were just a championship team who now and again get our chance in the Premiership.
Oh and by the way Yiddo dont know how many times you've been to Spurs when your at home to Newc but when ive been at palace there supporters have been great. Traveling miles and in force to supports their team.

Midweek cup games.Mario wrote:Sorry mate but thats just not true. Whatever criticism you wanna level at Newcastle fans, they always turn up and i guarantee you cant back that argument up. I'm a Newcastle fan but this 'best fans in the world' stuff is bollocks. Theres far too many idiots who havent got a clue what they're talking about. The Keegan/Shearer 'dream team' the media keeps going about is a effing joke and noone in their right mind wants that. Just as noone who has any idea about football thinks we can attract Mourinho.yiddo14 wrote:Not a chance in hell would Newcastle get the sort of gates Leeds are if they were in the same position.
Their fanbase, as you say, is vastly over-rated.
Many a time in the past two seasons their ground has been under half full.
Their fans are deluded.
They honestly think their club(despite not winning anything worthwile in the last 50+ years)are the biggest on planet earth...
I think when Ashley gets his own man in he'll be given plenty of time to get a team ready to challenge for honours but thats not gonna happen overnight. I just hope its not Mark Hughes, who will do as he's done at Blackburn and sign a load of big hard bastards to kick teams off the field, and will want to do a runner as soon as Fergie leaves Man Utd.
I remember seeing your UEFA Cup home games on tv under Roeder and you barely got 28 thousand through the gates at times.
Also your Carling cup and FA Cup games(the Birmingham one sticks in mind)have been poorly attended recently.
I think Hughes would do a good job at your place, provided he is given time.
But as you say, the second Man U come sniffing for him he is gone.
