Old school? which part of Hatton is Old School? old school what? drunkard?

:D
Oooh you bitch.....such an amusing play on words.....

Old school as in down to earth, not boastful, respectful, family oriented and yes abit of a normal lad. I've never heard anyone who has met him utter a bad word against him - all those in the business (save for Warren) talk really highly of him, and he is vbery likeable if you have spent anytime with him (clearly you haven't.)

YEs there is an element of his fans who are dickheads and hooligans but that is hardly his fault.

If I was HAtton I would write back an open letter to EVans telling him to tell him to write a decent article if he wants to preserve his dignity and his low quality poorly paid 'legacy' as a writter.

No way does Hatton need 'I like it up the' Witter for any legacy. Witter has just not achieved that much. Hatton has won world titles at two diffrenet weights, moved up a weight to fight the best fighter of his generation, stopped another of the best at light Welter, won several versions of the world title and can fill arenas with 10s of thousands.

WHat has Witter done to cement his so-called legacy?? Sh1t himself against Judah, got gifted a decision against the Euro-quality KOtelnik and almost lost to decent but not world class COlin Lynes.....

Oh yes he Ko'd Vivian Harris whio also previously got Ko'd by the decidely average Maussa (yes, the same Maussa who HAtton bowled over) and beat DEmarcus Corley who lost his next two and has lost every big fight he's been in...

Sure....it's really vital for Ricky to fight an opponent who has been constantly disrespectful and rude to him (remember the Thaxton fight) and couldn't sell out a toilet...

Witter needs Hatton and not the other way round. WItter knows he needs to payday, the only big one he will ever get.

I can't understand the Hatton hatred that goes on on this board - he has been great for the sport of boxing in this country and revived it when it was in a slump.

I suspect it's a mixture of British loathing of winners and some kind of bizarre hatred of what he represents - IE being white and English and old school.
Finally some realism in this thread, witter needs to accept the fact that he is a Nobody in the big boxing picture and he has nobody but himself to blame for this due to his boring style and blinkered view that the hatton fight is the only fight out there. Seriously it is getting boring now listening to the same rubbish over and over again, witter is chasing hatton so hard because he knows that he will get a nice payday...SIMPLE AS THAT...WITHOUT HATTON WITTER EARNS DICK ALL...

i find it amazing the shit that hatton gets also, feck me have any of these knockers been in a ring, even in the amatuers hatton was world rated so it puzzles me why he gets mullered so much on ere,yes he's been well looked after but how many have a long succsesfull carreer without being guided right,i personally hope hatton doesn't fight witter as i think there is a good chance he'd get beat 'if u asked hatton what style of fighter he didn't want it would be an elusive big hitting counter puncher im sure, every fighter has a style he'd prefer to or not to fight, dont get e wrong hatton could win the fight also, witter has got issues off his own regarding pressure fighters but just feel out of the 2 world class fighters hatton has far more to lose in terms of his popularity and so on which he got by the way without fighting witter,so asks the question does he need the fight as much as witter, does he feck.witter needs him 2 finally earn the big money he deservesbut that isn't really hattons fault is it ,also thought the gavin evans article was a cheap shot at hatton and ricky should fornicate the boxing news of when they come asking 4 interviews n such:box:

With BN cranking up the heat on Ricky to make the fight with Witter, & no doubt the subject of the Witter fight will keep coming up, I now have no doubt Ricky will make the fight. As to when, well, I don't know, but I think it'll be sooner than some of us expected!

I've no doubt, despite what he might say when asked about things such as the open letter in BN, that Ricky's pride wil have been dented. As a fighter, I think the best way to restore your pride, is to put to bed whatever the problem is. The only way for Ricky to stop all the criticism, talk of the Witter fight, etc, is to box Junior.

Someone stated in an earlier post, Ricky thought Mayweather could not punch hard & that Witter punches harder than Floyd. I doubt Witter punches harder than Mayweather. Secondly, if Mayweather fought Witter, Floyd would skool him to bits.

I can understand why Hatton has received some stick for not making the fight with Witter, but some of it has been extreme & has been uncalled for. Not if, but when Hatton-Witter happens, I'll be rooting for Ricky all the way. If he defeats Witter, well, that's the best way to stop all the criticism he has been receiving lately over the bout.

I agree here with Rooney. I've met Hatton had a good wee bleather with him and I like him but he is and always has been overhyped, in typical British boxing fashion they exploit one big victory over Kosta Tyzu, which I'm still not impressed by and then recurgitate it over and over again, same as they do with the rest of british headliners...

and then the protection & ducking begins and the 'sell-out' writers & media support the pishhhh!

reminds me of a much older & more serious case... Witter DESERVES his shot at Hatton and if champions (?) have any self respect and 'really' are glad to prove it against anyone and more so British Boxing OWES it to the people, then fight WITTER..., then fight Froch and the Woods, then fight Thaxton and so on and so, you champions you!

That's exactly the point - it's shouldn't be about who needs who. Witter said money is a secondary issue, so I suppose the Hatton's will pay as little as possible to Junior if the fight comes off.

If Hatton's philosophy is about money and balance of risk, then he should just say so and stop PR'ing us to death with ''I'm in it for the glory, not money''.

Also, you mention about not giving Boxing News any more interviews - well how soft is that?

I'm a Boxing fan first and foremost and I believe Hatton is way overhyped.

Nigel Benn didn't like Chris Eubank so he fought him. Hatton's bottlin it, no doubt and I don't buy the image he projects one iota.

Ricky Hatton is a hero to me, but he really needs to get his finger out of his arse unless he wants to lose respect and, ultimately, his massive fan-base. Because this drinking too much palava is wearing very thin now and getting very repetitive.

It's been five weeks since he got beat and he's still on the piss nearly every week. He needs to get a fight signed, whether it be against Marcos Rene Maidana, Junior Witter or Oscar de la Hoya. He needs the motivation, and at the moment, there's not one fighter out there that would get him up for a fight as much as Junior - so why not take it after taking a gimme?

Also, I think Hatton overestimates his own stamina nowadays a lot. He got fatigued against Juan Urango, Carlos Maussa, Luis Collazo and Floyd Mayweather - he might've got tired against Jose Luis Castillo if he didn't knock him out early. His stamina and energy were fine as well three years ago, but I think he changing weight between fights is starting to fornicate him up big time. And that's sad when you think of him as a person, because he's a top lad, but you can't justify putting on 50lbs between fights.

He has two options for me - either sign a fight or say goodbye to your career. And get over that hammering.

Yes, and i can prove that!

Thats why Witter sells so many tickets!

No, wait, hang on a sec........

Shows how utterly moronic Witters promotional team are, trying to force a fight by open letters from local journalists and using this forum to put "pressure" on Hatton

Pathetic, it really is

Hatton must be thinking long and hard about it now....

No, Benn wouldn't have fought him for free in a ring, but on car park I think he would have at the right time.

I don't think Hatton is a bottle job in general, but I think he is were Witter is concerned because I don't think he's that confident in winning the fight and to lose would be too unbearable for him.

Hatton has no lack of bottle...to suggest otherwise is insanity.

He doesn't need to fight Witter; he can't stand witter because of the enormous lack of respect junior showed, especially after the Thaxton fight which was inexusable.

The ony way Witter can make money is by fighting Hatton - why should Ricky effectively put money in Witter's pocket after the way he has acted.

It's simple.

The guy who jeopardised the Hatton-Witter fight is JUnior himself and his idiot trainer.

Tough.

i only saw that the other day for the first time I can remember, and it was pretty rude indeed, specially as rick had just done a superb job of beating thaxton........did he not cut badly in that fight after 30 seconds?

but it's hardly a new trick is it and no worse than turning round to the P4P best in the world and staying "stop playing with me dick under the table" on daytime TV.

it's hypocritical and that's all there is to it.

So Junior attempted a gate-crash job, he came across a bit arrogant........get over it. I don't even think he used ONE obscenity , he just calmly told Hatton he would destroy him if they ever fought (he probably would) and ACTUALLY congratulated Hatton on his performance.

If Hatton don't want the fight don't take it. I WOULDN'T get my boat punched in to entertain anyone if I was sat on 20 million quid. B*llocks to that.

But that's no reason to make up a load of excuses IMO. (if indeed that's what he has said - i haven't heard it from him in person I'm going off what people on here are reporting him to have said).

Chuck Matthew in I say, he's just been in the Boxing Monthly telling the nation he's aiming for a World Title.....give the lad a late Christmas present. He's overdue a fcking live one.

Watch the documentary about the Eubank Benn relationship and watch Hatton's hero Nigel Benn passionately pleading for Eubank to give the fans the fight they wanna see...it's called 'clash of the titans'

Well, I get your point but HAtton was approached after a gruelling 12 round fight.

Not only that but THaxton was Witter's stablemate and so it was even more classless.

The timing was terrible, inexcusable really.

After a 2 round blowout maybe but 12 hard rounds against your own stablemate.

THat is too far.
