Matt Macklin
Matt Macklin
I was at the York Hall last night watching the Mitchell 'fight' and seen Matt Macklin sitting front row at ringside. He was chummy with Warren on a few occasions during the night.
Has Macklin rejoined Sports Network? I read an article by Warren on Saturday saying that Macklin has split from Billy Graham. Does anybody know whose training Macklin now?

Re: Matt Macklin
Did it say why they split. Seems odd if they have.liamlion wrote: I read an article by Warren on Saturday saying that Macklin has split from Billy Graham.

Billy Graham doesn't deserve this.

Re: Matt Macklin
he's fighting on the undercard of the Andy Lee fight in Limerick in a couple of weeks - the venue sold out in two hours. I reckon he will move to Ireland and train in the Breen gym of follow Lee or Duddy and fight ifrom New York or Detroit where there is big Irish crowdsliamlion wrote:I was at the York Hall last night watching the Mitchell 'fight' and seen Matt Macklin sitting front row at ringside. wasnt having a pop T! sorry if it sounded like thatTerry D wrote:It is a mutual decision based on what Graham can give to the fighter in the coming years. Graham feels responsible for Matthew and feels that he cannot continue with the three fighters. Two of his fighters have training camps at the same time and Graham cannot go through the mill with Matthew also due to the state of his hands. This way he gets longer breaks between camps.
The article pretty much says those things, might not seem like much because the truth is that it is pretty straightforward and is best for both parties. What else can be said? There is no ill-will or slanging to 'report' on. It is all fairly cut and dried so far and is a paraphrasing of what Graham said during the interview.
When's the article being published on Graham speaking about the recent Hatton rumours. Be good to hear Billy's side.BBN wrote:Graham has spoken to Terry D exclusively.

No idea if it is true, but Mayweather sr's name is doing the rounds.Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:If you're saYing Mayweather, you're so far out with that I dunno where to start.Everton FC wrote:Maklin is going to be trained by a very good and well known trainer in America..Let's just say that his son is possibly the greatest fighter to ever lace the gloves..![]()
Mayweather ain't not G.O.A.T.
Got no problem with Mayweather as a trainer bud, but to say his son if one of the best ever is laughable. He beats Hatton and then people start saying he's an all time great.chris s wrote:No idea if it is true, but Mayweather sr's name is doing the rounds.Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:If you're saYing Mayweather, you're so far out with that I dunno where to start.Everton FC wrote:Maklin is going to be trained by a very good and well known trainer in America..Let's just say that his son is possibly the greatest fighter to ever lace the gloves..![]()

He's p4p now. However, I think with the number of belts existing these days, I think the days of crowning all time greats are long behind us. If Mayweather isn't an all time great, then nobody who exists in boxing at the moment is.Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:Got no problem with Mayweather as a trainer bud, but to say his son if one of the best ever is laughable. Terry, any news on the interview BBN were gonna have with Billy about all this Hatton split shit?Terry D wrote:That is the intention. Obviously I can be accused of regional bias but he is a character and will be sorely missed. That just leaves Graham with the Hatton brothers
Does he plan to retire with them?
Unless there is 'Billy Graham II: The Georgia Years'
I thought it was coming up, or have I slept and missed it?
