I dont see the problem?.... why shouldnt he challenge him to a fight after he's been 12 rounds?!!... theyre all big boys arent they??. What about the things Hatton saiud about Mayweather in the run up to their fight??... that actually made Mayweather want to fight Hatton in order to shut him up!.... thats why Mayweather will go down as an all time great and Hatton wont I'm afraid...E wrote:Well, I get your point but HAtton was approached after a gruelling 12 round fight.NorthEastBoxingFan wrote:i only saw that the other day for the first time I can remember, and it was pretty rude indeed, specially as rick had just done a superb job of beating thaxton........did he not cut badly in that fight after 30 seconds?
but it's hardly a new trick is it and no worse than turning round to the P4P best in the world and staying "stop playing with me dick under the table" on daytime TV.
it's hypocritical and that's all there is to it.
So Junior attempted a gate-crash job, he came across a bit arrogant........get over it. I don't even think he used ONE obscenity , he just calmly told Hatton he would destroy him if they ever fought (he probably would) and ACTUALLY congratulated Hatton on his performance.
If Hatton don't want the fight don't take it. I WOULDN'T get my boat punched in to entertain anyone if I was sat on 20 million quid. B*llocks to that.
But that's no reason to make up a load of excuses IMO. (if indeed that's what he has said - i haven't heard it from him in person I'm going off what people on here are reporting him to have said).
Chuck Matthew in I say, he's just been in the Boxing Monthly telling the nation he's aiming for a World Title.....give the lad a late Christmas present. He's overdue a fcking live one.
Not only that but THaxton was Witter's stablemate and so it was even more classless.
The timing was terrible, inexcusable really.
After a 2 round blowout maybe but 12 hard rounds against your own stablemate.
THat is too far.
HATTON TORN A NEW ONE!
So...you haven't read it but are aware it isn't 'decent'? Hmmm. If you don't like the approach, fair enough.E wrote:Haven't read it yet, but these 'open letters' approach is really weak journalism. It's really tabloid and frankly a bit embarassing.
If I was HAtton I would write back an open letter to EVans telling him to tell him to write a decent article if he wants to preserve his dignity and his low quality poorly paid 'legacy' as a writter.
Gavin Evans is an excellent journalist and writer - very knowledgeable, clever guy. Lovely bloke too. He's had the balls to say, in very stark terms, what most of the people on here think.
And Mighty Warrior is right - there's no way Boxing News would have had the bollocks to publish this if Hatton was still with Sports Network.
Gavin wrote 'Kings of the Ring' and the Lennox biog 'Mama's Boy' and has done a shit load of other work in a variety of media on a wide range of subjects.
Top man, excellent piece.

Mayweather gave Hatton his big payday why not get Witter in the ring and shut him up once and for all? Because Witter will KO him that's why.
Nickd, the Hatton bum boys will not accept that Hatton is now known as
Kentucky Fried Hatton.

I had skim-read it. I have now read it fully and whilst I agree that Gavin Evans is usually a good writer I think this was a weak journalistic piece.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:So...you haven't read it but are aware it isn't 'decent'? I don't think it was well written and I am loathe to see BRitain's historical trade paper I have read for years stoop to this tabloid level.
It was like reading the Daily Star.....
I look at texts for a living. There is absolutely no valid comparison whatsoever between anything the Daily Star publishes and what Gavin Evans wrote for BN. Zero. This is only my view though.Ulysses wrote:Ooh-aah Daily Star, say ooh-ah Daily Star!E wrote:It was like reading the Daily Star.....

Is Ricky all powerful?J wrote:ive maintained that hatton should he lose to PBF should then take Witter on, no excuse now. JKust do it ricky and do the business so some of the pathetic retards on this site who have posted on the issue can shut the feck up and learn some class.
though of course that wont happen.
So, if he fights Witter - classless people will now have CLASS?
WOW - he is better than I thought!

Whatever Hattons reasons are for avoiding Witter they are not good enough - The reason I say fight him now is because he wants to repay his loyal fans with a fight in Britain which is good, but his fans appear to only want one fight - I think if he chooses to fight anyone else other than Witter it will be a big mistake and do his credibility a lot of harm - By the way I think my sense of humour is pretty OK, I get loads of laughs reading the comments of some of the comics on this forum - Some of the stuff is so good I reckon they could earn a living from it.DG. wrote:WildWaylon wrote:Be a Hatton critic by all means but why insult the man with all this childish stuff - This isnt exactly a reply to the post made by nickd is it?DG. wrote:
