Boxing Betting Complaint - who do I approach?

Hi - I have placed a large bet on a yet to happen boxing match, and the wording was very ambiguous.

Not only that but the site do not even have a policy to define without doubt the parameters of the bet.

It is an over/under bet - and on most sites if a round is named it is the COMPLETED round.

Now they tell me via customer services that it means before the bell for that round.

But this is not spelled out anywhere - on the betslip and the site rules.

I have repeatedly contacted customer services and pointed this out (I hedged the bet with another site) but am now getting no reply.

I tried emailing the IBAS (Independent Betting
Adjudication Service) but my mail was returned undelivered.

THe fight is Golota - Mollo and I need this sorted soon.

Is there another body that adjudicates in this matter? I feel my case is very strong but would like to see it sorted before the fight.

Chambers2 might be able to help. He's our resident betting expert.

Have you tried the ACT? They regulate online gambling I think.

So, this way if you bet that "Golota Will win in under 6 rounds " it actually means he must be declared the winner BEFORE the bell for round 6?

IE has has to win up to and including the break after Round 5 ?

All gambling is done in honour only - Nobody is legally bound to pay you - Obviously if a bookie didnt pay up, he would soon get a bad reputation - At the same time if you have an account with a bookie and you dont pay up he cant take you to court - The gambling organisation will set the rules of the bet and you place your bet according to those rules - The onus is on you to understand the conditions at the time of betting and if you think they are ambiguous you need to have things clarified.

I contacted IBAs (i think theyre called) whena company refused to pay out ona bet I had, they soon did when the betting arbitration board stepped in!

THat's correct....it was at Skybet.

BUt on ALL other sites whene they give an over or under it includes the round as completed. Therefore under 6 rounds would be including the sixth round as technically the round is not completed until the end bell goes.

MOst bookies quote under and over in half rounds - for example under/over 5.5 rounds would actually mean the line is drawn at 5 completed rounds, and half way through the next (ie sixth round.)

So, effectively 1 min 30 secs in the 6th round.

Wales - yeah I remember that incident. BUt I tried to email the IBAS and my email said undeliverable...maybe I will ring them.

I had to photocopy my betting slip and write a letter and send the lot to them, they responded within about 5 days saying they would respond within another 14 days - they then wrote to me saying I could go and collect my winnings, which I did.

" Under/Over Round Betting "

Under 8 Rnds 1/2 ........ 8th Rnd or over 6/4.

I fail to see why that could have confused you????

It is quite clear- UNDER 8 Rounds V 8th Round or over.

In this context, Under 8 rounds obviously doesn't include the 8th round itself, they have made that clear, I'd say.

If that was how it was presented when you struck the bet I am sure than the IBAS would take the bookmakers side, sorry.

Or, have they changed it since you took the bet?

Cheeky fvckers - They changed it since I made the complaint........but I took screenshots of the bet before the change so have evidence of the ambiguity.

I am especially disappointed that 3 of my emails have not been answered by Customer service. One even quoted a totally unrelated rule about betting on who wins in what exact round.

Actually, thinking about it, this might strengthen my case - to show that they admit ambiguity.........
