Close, but no ciGARR

Post by The REAL McCoy »

Did any of you cats see ESPN's Friday night fights on channel 5 last night?

Man, Sam Garr was robbed against undefeated 29-0 prospect & great white hope Matt 'The Predator' Vanda in one of the worst decisions McCoy has ever seen :o & McCoy has seen many

The heavily tatooed Vanda said that the reason he has so many tatoo's is because he is best friends with a tatoo artist! Damn, Vanda must be his only customer goin by the amount of tatoos he has managed to squeeze on his small frame, in fact Vanda's tatoos are so many & varied that even the great Johnny Tapia would be left shaking his head in disgust saying "Thats just taking it too far, kiddo" Honestly Vanda had so many that McCoy thought he was fighting with a T shirt on

"I see me hitting him with a good right hand & left hook, & knocking him out" said a cocky Matt Vanda before the fight, who does he think he is with them visions, Mystic McCoy?

Garr then commented "I feel very comfortable & confident in what I am going to do tonight" probably not as comfortable as Vanda though, who had spent his whole career in the comfort zone before this fight & even then it wasnt what you would consider a huge step up in class, as Garr had a record of 32-7 & had lost his last 3 fights, two coming by way of knockout

Garr was controlling the fight from the second round onwards & although it was a great fight to watch, everybody including Teddy Atlas who scored the contest 8 rounds to two in favour of Garr could see that there was only one winner, & it wasnt the hometown fighter

Enter the judges who gave Vanda a split decision in front of his own adoring fans & gave the visibly stunned Garr an undeserved loss on his record & a lonely walk back to the dressing room

McCoy has to say he agreed with Teddy Atlas afterward when he shouted "THIS STINKS"

So, did any of you cats see it?

Yeah, & it will probably go the same way if they ever met again with Vanda getting a gift decision :(

He won't get a rematch mark my words, minnesota doesn't even have a boxing commission, Garr isn't a big money fighter, and it will just be glossed over and forgotten about.

Vanda sucks anyway, he's not going to go on to do anything big, but you have to feel very sorry for Garr, who fought a smart fight.
