Mitchell/Small Setanta gripe

Post by oliverfennell »

So I went away for a long weekend, the recorder bolloxed up my live taping of Saturday's fights, but I figured I still had the replay to lokk forward to, even if it was only an hour.

Now, Mitchell-Torres was a main event in name only. And, considering it only lasted three rounds, surely Setanta could squeeze in the REAL main event i.e. what knowledgeable fight fans were most looking forward to - Small v Takaloo?

But no, we get Kevin's brother v Robin Deakin in a four-rounder, plus some Bunce-in-a-pie-shop guff and full ring entrances, introductions, studio chit-chat and interviews.

Come on.

As good as Vinnie-Deakin was, I wouldn't have torn my hair out if I'd missed it. But I damn near did at missing Small v Takaloo. Did we need that pie shop segment, which told us virtually nothing? More importantly, did we need full ring walks, studio stuff, introductions and interviews?

If they'd dropped all that filler and Vinnie-Deakin, Setanta could have fit in Small-Takaloo no problem.

Thoughts? Or was I the only poor sod to miss the live broadcast?

I take your point Oliver but the fight lasted 7 rounds!

The replays on setanta are way too short though I agree. Sky usually get it about right at around 2 hrs.

Re-reading I see you were referring to the main event. Apologies

I missed the live show too and was disappointed with the repeat offering.

I thought Takaloo looked old in the interview last week though and was not surprised it went the way it did.

I missed it too. I was disappointed with the repeat, they should have showed Small v Tak as that was the best fight. the small v tak fight may be on SN website soon.

despite coming on here rallying the forum into life and correctly predicting a Small victory between the 7th and 8th I then inexplicably took the dog out for a walk. He's great my dog. Trouble is when I came in it was round 6 and it ended one round later. I told myself that it was okay because I caught the stoppage so in essence had seen the best part of it whereas on th einside I was really crying cos I'd missed the first 6 rounds and feeling stupid.

As you say Oliver - the replay the next day was a DISAPPOINTMENT with a capital D and as I missed over half of that too I naturally assumed that they HAD shown it but I'd missed it again!!!! Double dang!!

Turns out I'd set the darn recorder anyhow hours earlier and forgot all about it so I watched the whole uninterupted (Buncey excused) show.

What a plank!!

I agree, 1000%.

Setanta's boxing coverage is ok, but needs to improve.
