Chico Varona, Cuban welter of the fifties, now residing in New York, passed away during the weekend.

In his 99 bouts he beat Johnny Bratton and Charley Cotton and lost on points to Kid Gavilan.

This is another warrior that will be missed.

I've seen his bout with the late, great Eduardo Lausse-the one with Marciano commentating. It was a pretty good fight until Lausse eventually caught up with him.
