Arthur/Guzman heading for Glasgow?

Alex Arthur was today on tenterhooks as he awaited a decision on whether his proposed world title fight with Joan Guzman would take place in Scotland.
Arthur's manager allegedly has outlined his purse bid to stage the fight to Guzman's camp and Arthur will learn tonight what the outcome is.

However, even if the fight goes ahead here, it is unlikely to be in Edinburgh, never mind Arthur's dream of fighting at Edinburgh Castle.

Arthur said: "Although Frank has pledged to put my challenge to Guzman on in Scotland it won't be in Edinburgh as the last time a world title show was staged at Ingliston in 2005 loads of fans complained about not being able to see the ring properly, so almost certainly it will go ahead in Glasgow.

"The waiting and tension that I've endured over the festive period will finally be ended at around 8.30pm tonight when the WBO will announce whether allegedly's bid has been successful.

"I've now watched Guzman in action on videotape and, quite honestly, he would be my toughest ever opponent as a pro.

"Guzman is a class ring act, who is coached by Floyd Mayweather senior and quite frankly I'd have my work cut out fighting him.

"He's the first and only opponent who has made me think beforehand that there is a chance he might even beat me, so victory over Guzman would be no foregone conclusion, but I'd still be giving it my best shot."

Bit of a shocker that he's only just watched Guzman on tape.

Good that he's giving Guzman some respect. To be honest, I'm quite surprised this fight is coming off. AA isn't top 5 and unless Guzman has serious weight problems or isn't mentally up for the fight, I don't see AA winning. But at least he's been given and accepted the test, and if he doesn't win, there is still milage to be had out of his career. There's Fana for one, who I think is meant to be giving Klassen the rematch. Winner of that I'm sure could be brought over. Or he's moved up to lightweight and ultimately becomes the fall-guy for Khan.

Don't believe that, Alex is a student of Boxing and knows and follows the sport like a fan as well.

I hope he gets it in Scotland, Guzman is a quality champion and he'll get to test himself against the elite level.

As much as I'd like Arthur to win, I raeally think Guzman will skool Alex. Guzman to be too fast, too slick for Arthur is my view.
