Yeah Lewis' defeat to McCall is often blamed for his lack of fights in the 90's but the truth is Bowe threw his title away and both Tyson and Holyfield paid him step aside money, nobody wanted to fight him.

Graham had his chances against McCallum, Kalumbey and Jackson and although none of the big British boys were interested in fighting him at least they were honest about it.

Hatton has always avoided slick fighters (yes he fought Mayweather for $$$ but I feel that is what his career was always being built towards). If he had fought Witter back in say 2002/2003 he would have struggled and very possibly have lost - thus losing his 0 and millions off his bank account. I'm sure he has no regrets. Hatton career has been superbly managed (from his bank managers point of view), this may well not have been the case if he had given us the fight we all wanted.

Ok so Witter is probably avoided by 1 person, so that doesn't make him a 'who needs him'.

Junior has won British, Commonwealth, Europeon and the WBC world title.

If your an avoided boxer you don't get half the chances he's had.

The reason i can think he's not getting the big fights, is he's not impressed against Kotelnik, Lynes, Corley and Morua.
Now he was superb in his last one against Harris, and suddenly thats opened the door to the US. Which is good for him.

Haye v Hobson also springs to mind. Haye is worlds apart know, but a couple of years ago this was a closer fight.

Remember that Witter did not win the Lonsdale Belt Outright in the Ring.

True , but i still don't think he a 'who needs him'.

Boxers such as Tony Thompson, Darnell Wilson and Sergio Martinez are the type i'm on about, Boxers who would give any title holder a hard even match, but are often over looked when it comes to title shots.

That is more to do woith CONNECTIONS, especially Martinez of the last few years!

yeah, he's got a shot soon, or at least he's supposed to have.
maybe its down to the boxer as well, not pushing it hard enough for a shot.
hard to say with Martinez, but he definatly got it in himself to win a world title.

Tony Thompson would be hard for any of the title holders at heavy, he's got a good jab and decent punch/chin. He's also very fit and i feel he'd carry that through the 12 rounds. Would he be good enough to beat the best ? i don't know, but he should be given a chance to find out before age catches up with him.

As for Darnell Wilson , he just punches to hard for his own good
