WBA super-middleweight champion Anthony Mundine takes on Manny Siaca in a mandatory defence of his title next time out (no date given as yet). Puerto Rican Siaca has an impressive 17-4 (16) record and twice went life-and-death with Byron Mitchell, being knocked out in the final round of their first fight when leading on two of the three judges' scorecards, and losing a controversial split decision in the rematch, after having Mitchell down in the last round.
"I know he's a good puncher, I know he's dangerous," Mundine said.
Mundine's chin faces another test
Tell you what as much as i dislike him as a person at least Mundine is willing to fight a decent level of opposition, other fighters can take a lead from him. After getting KO'd by a feather fisted Sven Ottke after travelling to Germany Mundine faced hard puncher Antwun Echols and won, then after getting dropped by a 38 year old Japanese fighter what does he do? Go in with another puncher! Siaca has stopped nearly all of the fighters he has beaten. I suppose we have to believe Mundine is genuine when he talks of Calzaghe and Green matches although i doubt he would have much chance in either fights.
