Dennie Mancini ridicules Magee camp claim
Dennie Mancini ridicules Magee camp claim
Brian Magee's mooted WBC title shot to Markus Beyer in February was never on according to veteran British agent Dennie Mancini.
Mancini is the worldwide agent for Sauerland Promotions, who look after WBC super-middleweight champion Markus Beyer and IBF & WBA champion Sven Ottke.
"The fight with Beyer was never on," Mancini insisted. "It's absolute nonsense. I'm Sauerland's agent, so I should know."
"He has never seriously been considered as an opponent for Beyer and I think the best he can hope for is a shot in September at the earliest but that will be down to Beyer.
"Beyer is facing Andre Thysse and then Danny Green in May or June and then maybe he will think about facing Magee. He's certainly not worried about Magee, why should he be?"
Seems the Magee camp were telling porkies...

As a world champ Beyer should hang his head in shame.bennie wrote:Brian Magee's mooted WBC title shot to Markus Beyer in February was never on according to veteran British agent Dennie Mancini.

This is a transparent money making exercise against far from the best available challenger.
I have no respect for Beyer for taking such a match. It would be an acceptable non-title outing, but as a defence it should not be allowed..

Christ, Mancini ought to be ashamed of himself. Ridiculing a British fighter and bigging up Beyer, like he's some sort of worthy champion, do me a favour mate, your working for Sauerland, who is surely one of the most crooked promoters around.
Why ridicule Magee, what has he done to piss Mancini off, maybe they tried to go to Beyer Directly.

According to the Magee camp, they were offered the fight via another agent, the American Don Majeski. So you don't know who to believe.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Christ, Mancini ought to be ashamed of himself. At the end of the day, I believe Thysse was the only opponent in the frame.

It sounds to me like sour Grapes from Mancini, why else would the line 'I'm his agent I would know' appear. Sounds like they might have negotiated with a foreign agent, and pissed mancini right off in doing so, it's a bit of an outburst from the blue to be honest, there has to be some reason for such a spiteful attack..

Beyer should keep his options open, if he does fight Magee in September then it will be a none title affair on Beyer's part anyway because Green will have smahsed them away from him in the rematch. Barring any crooked behaviour by the Germans of coursebennie wrote: "Beyer is facing Andre Thysse and then Danny Green in May or June and then maybe he will think about facing Magee. Thysse is ranked in the top 15 by the WBC, which entitles him to a crack if given special dispensation by the WBC (which he has been).shakermaker wrote:how is this fight getting the go ahead? It is a joke........Magee would have been a suitable stand in but Thysse
It is a joke fight, as you say. Thysee is tough but limited, so he's in for a long painful night against the sharp-boxing Beyer, who for all his fragility, can do the business when given a target.
We all remember him hammering Woodhall in Telford.

I didn't know he was top 15 for the WBC
as you say Bennie he is a tough fighter, not a bad record but he's coming straight off a stoppage defeat from Magee and this (fight) is not in my eyes worth world title status.
I'd have given more credit if Beyer took on an undefeated and hungry fighter like Magee..........oh well lets just hope Green gets on the mend asap

How long has Eastman been Hopkins #1 Contender?
It seems like an age that he's been calling out hopkins, but he surely can't have been #1 contender all that long?
