I've always been a Hatton and Witter fan (been to 2 Witter fights at Ally Pally if we need this seal of approval to be able to comment) but am becoming more and more tired of Ricky's excuses for the fight not happening.
He had it put in his contract... fight doesn't happen
Oh wait he has to win a world title first... Junior wins the WBC, fight doesn't happen
No, he has to put on a decent performance first... Witter knocks out Harris in a great fight.
No it's because he slated me 7 years ago (something Witter can't rectify). Also i'm still to hear Witter actually so anything that bad about Hatton, imo Malignaggi has come out worse

Ricky always comes across as a down to earth decent bloke, I think I'd get on well with him, but as a passionate fan of British boxing I find his stance on the Witter fight inexcusable and infuriating, because its been the natural fight for a while and the fact that its not happening is damaging to the sport (and IMO hopefully Rickys rep in the UK)Captain Hook wrote:I'm just shocked that Max and co dislike Ricky so much? Is there another reason?
He's always come across as a decent guy, great fighter. Is it purely the Witter angle?
I just want to see the best fighters fight each other, if every fighter took the same attitude as Ricky ("I'm not fighting him because I don't like him") the sport would have been extinct many moons ago.
Hattons mouth portrays him as a man of the people, but his actions regarding the Witter fight portray him as a spoilt vindictive child. Witter seems like a decent honest bloke who has got himself to the top the hard way by taking every opportunity afforded to him, whereas Hatton has had the Silver Spoon treatment due to his fanbase and hes now robbing the fans by refusing to fight JW.
Witter has done very little to justify Hattons stance of not wanting to fight him because he badmouthed him, which is why this is blatant unreserved ducking on Rickys part.
Nothing against Ricky its just that his stance on the Witter contest stinks and is in stark contrast to his public persona.

Whilst I would like to see Ricky take the Witter fight for the whole domestic dust up thing, the money for the fight itself is probably not Ricky’s only sticking point… This fight would actually make Junior a household name, put him on the chat show circuit etc, give him a living beyond boxing and into retirement.. You get the idea, such is Ricky Hatton’s fan base/appeal... For example, in the same way that Benn “made “ Eubank, Cooper “made” Bugner, or in the most extreme case how Ali made household names of the likes of Frazier, Foreman etc…. Don’t get me wrong, it’s annoying for those of us inside the game as we feel like we’re missing out….. but it’ll be even more annoying for Junior if this fight never gets made….. coz he’ll remain as Junior Who, the man who missed out, long after Ricky’s hung ‘em up….. Ricky’s legacy to the general fan/public is secure – there’s only one Ricky Hatton etc and by denying Witter his shot, it’ll stay that way…..

So you want to play the Insult route because I'm owning you. He was In the ring with Judah and made It a close but clear for Zab so by logic which you lack he fought. If you think proper boxing Is not fighting then why are you watching It.Captain Hook wrote:Max Molyneux wrote:Why are you using the opposition logic to say why Hatton would win? What an absolute load of horse shit.
I notice there are only 3/4 of you even bothering to big Junior up. Hatton would walk through him.
He's just been fighting the p4p King in America, has beaten Castillo and Urango, Collazo and Maussa overseas and you recokon he's had silver spoon treatment?
A half-full Donaster Dome suits you better does it? Were you at the Harris fight? You can't have been, there were only six of us there and three were with me
Yes, he got the FW silver spoon treatment to the top. The Hatton's picked the right fighters to make him so overrated. He was skys cash cow
Witter got thrown In the lions den and fought Judah on two weeks notice and did well and was put out of the spot light ever since, so he worked his way back the hard way.
Castillo was clearly chosen at the right time, he struggled against that Herman guy and some thought that decision was close enough to go either way but they didn't want to lose out on fighting Castillo.
Don't even mention Urango, he got a gift and was a boy against a man and Hatton was gassing against him.
The Callazo fight showed he was a bully who struggles with guys his own size It showed how effective that style really was that night.
He should of sparked Maussa much faster, he was eating unneeded shots and got cut considering the guy didn't come to win.
Yeah, he fought the P4p no 1 by slagging him off Into a fight totally overconfident In his stamina and fouling pressure fighting and got owned.
Whats wrong with asking how many of his fans are genuine fans and not the footy fans who only support him? I would go to a Witter fight If I could afford It and not stupid enough to drain my bank account around the christmas holidays to go to Vegas.
At least Witter will fight anyone and doesn't care so much about the money.
I ain't a fan nomore, they lie to eff and forget what shit they said before the fight. Like the Welterweight excuse for example, they said It didn't matter because Floyd wasn't a career one then when he lost brought It up. He'll fight DLH more than Witter because he'll have an excuse If loses at least.
Max - watching you trying scrap an argument together is like watching a retard fook a doorknob.
When will Witter fight anyone? He turned up in the same ring as Zab and didn't fight.
He doesn't care about money because nobody will offer him any. Why? Because he's dull. He does not capture the imagination. Boxing is a business as well as a sport.
You would go to a Witter fight if you could afford it? Doncaster is not that far away mate, you've had plenty of chances.
Hatton has JUST lost to Mayweather having done well for the first 5/6 rounds and now he's overrated and hiding from Junior effing Witter?! Give me a break.
He certainly wasn't dull In his Ko wins. Better than Ricky htting and holding like Ruiz use to do. Of course It's a business but It should be a passion first.
So your speaking out of Ignorance too for the last part.
He didn't do well at all, Hatton only could of been given the 5th round because Mayweather took a rest but even then he was defending. Hatton Is one of most overrated British fighters ever.
Hatton's only an average world fighter, It's easy for fighters to win at two weights If they pick the right opponent like he did.
Can;t you see what Hatton's coming out with lately, he was a hypocrite even before Mayweather beat him. Why throw Witter In his contract and not fight him?
If only the Ring had more policies to strip champs, Hatton doesn't care about Light Welter or cleaning It out.

Witter and Hatton have talked about each for years too yet he still won't fight him because Hatton thinks It's ok only when he slags someone.Horse wrote:Mayweather could have retired years ago, but why should he if he can keep on making vast amounts of money?Max Molyneux wrote:Nothings stupid about going to Vegas. DLH made Mayweather more money and he has enough to retire, Hatton was calling him boring for not being a retarded and eating shots to look exciting. He deserved what Mayweather did to him.
Mayweather and Hatton have been insulting each other for years, Hatton saying Mayweather was boring was just part of that, and he never said Mayweather had to eat shots to be exciting.
Fans should support their fighter, they wouldn't be fans if they constantly had a go at him and thought he was crap.Max Molyneux wrote:There Hatton fans which Is fair enough but there not any better than yes men, they were totally bias and had no respect for Mayweather and thought he was crap till Ricky lost. Actually noticed alot of people changing their thoughts Floyd now because he beat Ricky, especially In boxing news letters.
Witter never had a choice as he was never popular enough to go the easy route.Max Molyneux wrote:Every fighter cares about money, just that Witter wasn't tempted to go the easier route like Ricky did through money. Ricky said the WBU was the belt paying the bills, not the British title In his book.
Perhaps he didn't think it would be an issue and then found out it was. Either way, every fighter makes excuses after a loss and it doesn't make them sore losers.Max Molyneux wrote:It's not silly, It's as bad as being a sore loser, he gave Floyd respect afterwards but they said beforehand the weight wasn't an issue then said It was, thats was only one example why I've gone off Hatton though. It wasn't the full reason. Hatton's losing credibility with the real fans.
Real fans would continue to support Hatton whatever he decides to do.
If they fought at Welterweight Hatton could well beat DLH.Max Molyneux wrote:He's already got a shed load of money, he's just a fat greedy pig. Plus he would have the weight excuse If he fought DLH, DLH will seriously hurt him If they fight.
I do support fighters and I would of still support Hatton but like most, I'm getting fed up of him.
Yeah, It was digusting how he was left out and wasn't popular because Hatton was more hyped up.
Yeah fighters make certain excuses, It's hard to be 100% for fights but he's using that Welterweight excuse too excessively, It was Floyd's skill that beat him, not the size.
Real fans don't buy the bs he comes out with and are honest.
Nah, DLH's been a Lightmiddle since 2001 at least, he'd be huge next to Hatton. DLH could nearly be 12st In the ring at Light Middle while Hatton's 11st 4lbs at most.
DLH Is too big for him.

Very well thought out, I agree entirely.Chambers2 wrote:Ricky always comes across as a down to earth decent bloke, I think I'd get on well with him, but as a passionate fan of British boxing I find his stance on the Witter fight inexcusable and infuriating, because its been the natural fight for a while and the fact that its not happening is damaging to the sport (and IMO hopefully Rickys rep in the UK)Captain Hook wrote:I'm just shocked that Max and co dislike Ricky so much? Some good points made but I am not sure you are right about Rickys legacy being secure - Losing to Mayweather isnt a problem but avoiding Witter is.chief wrote:Whilst I would like to see Ricky take the Witter fight for the whole domestic dust up thing, the money for the fight itself is probably not Ricky’s only sticking point… This fight would actually make Junior a household name, put him on the chat show circuit etc, give him a living beyond boxing and into retirement.. I was never a fan of Junior Witter but over the past few months I have started to like him more - When he stopped being arrogant and started to speak more sensibly I began to warm to him - When I heard he wished Hatton well in the Mayweather fight my opinion of him as a man changed - As a fighter he can be exciting especially when he KOs people, but often he isnt - I have always been a Hatton supporter and avoiding Witter pre Mayweather made sense but having lost to Mayweather fighting Witter is IMO his best way back - It is also time to have the fight Hattons British fans want and prove he really is the number 1.Captain Hook wrote:PS Why aren't Witter's "REAL FANS" turning out to watch him fight? Simple question.
According to this board in past weeks Witter seems to be more popular than Hatton with posters.

Hatton was a good world class fighter, but he got to the top by utilising his physical advantages over guys who could not match him for speed, strength and workrate.
Against mayweather he had no physical advantages really, and the skill level more than made up for it anyway.
