Paul McCloskey takes on Manuel Garnica on the undercard of the Andy Lee bill on the 2nd of Feb, I think the bill is on Setanta.

Manuel Garnica might have the record of 21-8 - but has recently beaten (handily) Carlos Maussa and took Juan Lazcano to a controvesial (very controvsial) split decision loss. He has lost 5 of his last 7, but against quality fighters (world class most of them) and is always competitive in these fights.... he's beaten a fair few world class operators in his time also.

McCloskey's camp must be assuming that Garnica is fading or with the ambition punched out of him.

This fight is very interesting, and very brave.

This fight is very interesting, and very brave.

Only on RTE in Ireland as far as I know but they usually stream it on their website. Been very impressed with what I've seen of McCloskey, think he could be a real dark horse and I'd say a good win here and he's ready to mix it with the likes of Lynes, Bami etc.

Agree though this is a dangerous fight, Garnica was supposed to be giving Maidana problems last time out before he caught up with him and the Argie can really punch.

I was going to post the same thing when I saw this match-up - very tough fight for Mccloskey - I read an inetrview on Fightnews with Garnica - he sounds really up for the fight. I think we could well see an upset here - brave match making from the Mccloskey team.

its about time that promotors started giving a couple of tricky challanges to their fighters - thats what the fans want to see!
