Favourite Boxer

I haven't seen this done in the time I've been here, and I'm really interested to know who you all favour. This is nothing to do with how good the boxers are, but who you like the most (as a boxer).

My favourite boxer at the moment is Kelly Pavlik. He's all gangly, yet incredibly powerful and has a great chin. At the moment, I can only see him improving.

Other boxers I like are Amir Khan, Joe Calzaghe, Edwin Valero, Yuriorkis Gamboa, Michael Katsidis, Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr, David Haye and probably some more I'm not thinking of right now.

Now, or ever?

Aaron Pryor is my all-time fave, closely followed by Terry Norris.

Now I'd say Floyd or JC, though I've always appreciated the skills of DLH and think Ward is a great prospect.

Got some great domestic fighters I feel will rise to Euro level at least as well, including Crolla, Rose, Moore and a young lad called Mark Moran. I like him.....Matvienko always excites as well, keeps you on edge of your seat.

No particular order

Domestic - Haye, Witter, Murray, Barker, Moore
Worldwide - Guzman, Forrest, Vazquez, Taylor

Audley, Haye and Froch in no particular order. I got back into boxing the same time these 3 turned pro and I've watched them avidly through their careers

Froch is number 1 though

I really like JMM, based on his recovery versus Pacman, I'm beginning to rediscover Calzaghe and already miss Barrera and Morales.

Pavlik's growing on me.

And I like Froch too.

Matt Skelton!

He has got something not many fighters have and thats pure substance. The man is all substance!

It is OK to watch some bolo punching, ali shuffling, referrring themselves as the third person flash harry and boxing produces more of this character than most so it is good to see the honest man do well!

Juan Manuel Marquez; as David says, something about a bloke that can get his nose spread all over his face, decked three times in one round & come back to arguably win a fight against the most dangerous man in the world appeals to my temperament. Lovely combination counter punching, too, & balance/positioning, things I've always found mesmerising in boxing.

And domestically, David Haye, for a bit of the ol' Tommy Hearns will-he-won't-he get flattened/flatten someone. Though I think he's going to get marmalised against Enzo (I was screaming "Don't do it Dave! Go up to heavy!" when the fight was announced), he'll still be my top domestic cove.

International Faves - its quite hard not to love Kelly Pavlik at the moment, hes guarenteed entertainment with his all action style and he punches like a mongoose. His wins over Miranda and Taylor were spectacular!!!

I admire James Toneys skills his fight against Jirov at Cruiser was one of the finest boxing ehhibitions I've seen. Hes got the best chin I've seen, some of them flush shots that he took off BIG Samuel Peter would have splattered some of the BIGGEST HW's let alone a blown up Middle (very blown up). Hes one of my Fave trashtalkers of this era as well, screaming "NEXT!! WHO's NEXT???" into the microphone after he'd beat Holyfield (I think) made me howl with laughter

I like watching Pacman and JMM fight, so I (we) are in for a right treat 15th March. March and April are shaping up into a few fine months of boxing

At present it has to be Floyd Mayweather or Junior Witter and i am also a big fan of Paul"the punisher" Williams.

In the past probably Benn or Mike McCallum

All time. Leonard, Hagler, Duran, McCallum, Hearns, loved watching those guys fight. Hard to pick a favourite of all time.

Leonard for his superlative skills, killer instinct and superstar style.

although i enjoy watching both marquez brothers and ricardo mayorga for his outrageous antics outside the ring alone
