What are GBP Paying Witter?

Post by DG. »

Anyone know whjat Witter s getting formthe Hopkins fight?

He deserves a good payday!

I would hope he is getting at least $500K ( £250k) - what do you think he should get/is worth?

It isn't confirmed whether it'll be on HBO PPV, HBO WCB or HBO BAD, but the latter two wouldn't generate much money for Witter. especially as it's a co-main event and the armchair fan wouldn't have heard of Junior.

My gut feel is $200kish.[/b]

Hope Witter doesn't get jobbed in this one. Hopkins is the name and has the backing but we need a fair set of judges because it will be close probably. From what i have seen of Demetrius is riding the crest of connections and is pretty much solid but nothing flashy, ESPN headline card material.

I'm seriously considering putting money on Hopkins winning a decision (Witter getting robbed) and then fighting Hatton next.

Will see what odds I can get.

Hopefully its good money. Hopkins is a hard 1 to judge and he hasnt been in with top contenderers so we don't know how good he is. My overall opinion is he is similar to Harris but not quite as good. So Witter by KO is my pick and Witter will need the KO as DHOPs connections will have bought the judges off already

Can't see DHOP's connections being such a factor, when even uncle BHOP can get shafted (both Taylor fights IMO).

I think they have options on Witter so may want a piece of a unified champion then another Hatton fight. Did I hear the winner would get Malig so may not mess around too much.

I think Witter would do well to try to get a KO but don't worry too much if he doesn't. I imagen bringing over the WBC belt will get him some cash.

Options? - what makes you think that?

I belive they have the rights on promoting Witter and Froch in the US, Hennassy made a big thing about it a couple of years back then other than froch fighting Porres not much happened.

Yes, you are right - I remember the story etc, but THIS fight is co-promoted by Hennessy and GBP - hopefully Witter Sparks D-Hop, personally, I do not trust GBP.

ALTHOUGH being co-promored by GBP 'migh' ensure the judges give him a fair shake.

I don't see him getting jobbed per se; if Witter turns up at his best, Hopkins has two chances, of which slim is already packing its bags. Hopkins is unproven, as others have said, but beyond that has shown little in his fights to date to show that once he does fight genuinely world class opponents that he will do much more than lose with good grace.
