DIRT SUGAR wrote:Sounds a cracking idea. I'll see if I can make it. I'm only in Cannon Street so shouldn't be a problem. My wife is buggering off to New York for a weekend on Friday so she can't really say anything about me having a few swift halfs with some boxing buddies can she?
So, lets get this straight.

Are we meeting in the Sports Cafe, Haymarket, on Friday 30th January?
Na mate, it's "The Griffin" at Charing Cross/Embankment at 7pm i think.
How will we identify each other.

Hold a copy of Boxing News?

Hello mate, hows tricks?

I can make both dates, so i'm not bothered which we go on - but i'd have thought it'd be best to keep to the 30th now as thats the date which people have discussed and prob asked the Mrs if they're allowed out :D
Still, thats a quality idea, I like the sports bar in Piccadilly, and may well be a good idea for any future meet ups.
Alright sunshine?

Like i said i wouldn't be able to make the 7th Feb so i'll definitely try and make the 30th.
It does get very busy in the Sports Cafe so you wouldn't hear a thing during the Skelton Francis fight. But if they are showing the Toney McCline fight it should have emptied out by then.
The only people left at 5am will be the hardcore boxing fans.

I was there swaying in front of the big screen when the Lewis Tyson fight was on and it was a good night.

Ideal, I didn't realise it was open so late - so may have to get down there in the future for one of the big fights.

I was there too, managed to find a nice spot at the bar with which to park myself for the whole night (after we'd been let back in of course after the clear out).

The Lewis fans around me just couldn't contain their joy at the end, whereas I just felt nothing but sadness at what I'd just witnessed despite wishing beforehand that Lewis would give Tyson a beating.

Sad, sad night.

Why dont we meet in a "Boxing Pub", like say Carlie Magri's pub in Bethnal Green.

It would be more appropriate, wouldnt it?

Don't worry knockout, we'll turn the Griffin into a boxing pub before the night is through...so who's going to make it, around 10 people is it?

Bennie you should try to make it mate, bring Tony as well as he's just down the road isn't he?

Hi all,

I have just this minute joined the forum and thought what better way to get to meet the people on here than coming down on the 30th to Charing Cross.

I am 24, I work for a spread betting company and I price fights up on a regular basis.

If nobody has got any objections would they mind me coming along ? The first round is on me if I am allowed to come.

Cheers

SMILERTRNI.

P.S. I will have the latest copy of Boxing news out on the bar so you can recognize me.

Hello everyone!

Just thought I would introduce myself as I have just signed up!

I am 19 years old, my favourite fighter of all time is Mike Tyson. Plus, I am also keen on boxers such as: Floyd Maywhether, Marco Antonio Barrera, Scott Harrison, Roman Greenburg, Oscar De La Hoya, James Toney etc, etc.

Lastly, I everyone is meeting-up on January 30th - would I be able to come along?

Please let me know.

Thanks

This is going to be weird.

Hey do you reckon it's safe to advertise this "meet" like this? We ought to be on the look out for a bald guy carrying a hand grenade.

Shame I won't be able to make it, going to be in Dagenham at the Eastman fight. Looks like there is quite a crowd going.
