Cheers Lee (although I disagree with his outcome of the fight)As the only man to beat enzo and with the experience of sparring Haye I believe I can shed some light on the possibilities of outcomes.
Enzo:-
When I fought Enzo I knew very little of him and had no chance of doing any research due to the fact he'd chinned every one so quick I couldn’t get any footage.
The man I found myself in front of had answers for every question my hands threw at him and it seemed effortless the way he switched his offence and defence to deal with what I was returning fire with.
His hands were fast and clean with minimal loss of efficiency switching from body to head and back with no problems what so ever.
Towards the end of the second I found myself with my back to the ropes and under pressure, when trying to get round him our feet got tangled and I fell which ended up with the referee wrongly administering a standing eight. To Enzo’s credit he acknowledged the fact with a respectful touch of the gloves.
Never the less though by the end of the second I was three rounds down due to the ten point must system and in dyer need of a stoppage.
I managed to land a clean left hook during the third and he seemed to back of a little and give respect to the fact he was not going to have it all his own way. Later that round I landed the shot to end the fight, a straight lead hand with such depth and follow through that he landed on my shoulder as he fell.
It was by far the best and hardest shot I’ve thrown to date and he still tried to get up and soldier on.
I’ve seen him since having to get up and re group after suffering some big shots from the likes of Bruce Scott, but has always proved he is more than capable of doing such and taking it straight back to his latest foe.
So questions about Enzo’s chin………….. There’s no questions in my mind, he’s not superman but he certainly hasn’t got a troublesome jaw line.
Haye:-
I had sparred Clinton Woods that day and done several more rounds when Haye turned up to do a few rounds with Mark Krence.
After a few tough rounds between them I was asked if I’d join in for a couple.
Although tired I’m always game and jumped in for a move around. The first round was very cat and mouse with neither of us really committing to throw any thing worth talking about. As the second round commenced he let rip with a venomous straight right which landed clean on the end of my beak. To say it smarted a little would be the under statement of the year but I’ve sparred all over the world with all sorts of opponents and have genuinely no problems with hard sparring. I do however have a problem when malice becomes involved and you can rest assured he meant to hurt me.
The round basically degenerated into a war and when he landed a second straight right and I was really quite annoyed with the whole situation.
To say theirs no love lost between Haye and myself would be true and when the fight between us was put together I was glad of the chance of a little retribution.
To say Haye can bang is an obvious fact the stats don’t lie, and if he’d have hit me anything other then straight on I’m sure I’d have found myself getting up of the floor.
Sadly the fight never happened and we’ll never know the outcome.
Carl Thompson did however get the chance and took it by weathering Hayes initial storm to tern it around in the later rounds and stop Haye with him in no position to continue.
So on reflection,
They are both big hitters as no body denies but my general thoughts are with Enzo from the fourth round onwards. Yes I beat him but he’s come on leaps and bounds while being with team Calzaghe
And he was a hell of hand full when I met him back in Swansea.
