Any remember George Peter Likas, San Francisco middleweight,

Post by chaslik »

Hi fellow fight fans, does anyone remember my grandfather's brother who fought middleweight during the 1910s and 20s in the San Francisco bay area?

This would have been both amateur and professional. Anything that anyone can tell me would be most appreciated. :)

Thanks! :TU:

Have never seen his name in the cabinet-full of record books I've got. Did maybe your relative use an alias when he fought?

Hi and thanks for your reply. I do not believe that he ever used an alias. Any help that you can offer is most appreciated !! Thanks!

As I said in a post on another section on this board, we have done a good job of researching Bay Area boxing during this period, so he should be in the database if he had any sort of career.

I also read an article in the Fresno Bee about fighter aliases, that would lead me to believe that about 40% of the boxers who were active during the four-round era, were using aliases. It was very common if you did not have an Anglo-Saxon name.
