I don't know too much about boxing but my dad just recently came to visit me and we were watching a match together. He informed me that his uncle was at one time the middleweight champion.I don't remember to many details but I believe it was in the 1930's and I guess he fought a guy named Jack Johnson.Like I said I don't know much about this sport let alone the history!I was just hoping to learn something more about my family,if this was a discussion on UFC fighters then I might know a thing or two!If anybody has any info about this man, Byron Dampier (spelling could be off) I would appreciate it.Also if you know of any other info source that would be helpful that would be great. Thanx

Kelly, the only middleweight champion, that I know of, to fight Jack Johnson, was Stanley Ketchell. He was born Stanislaus Kiecal on Sept.14.1887 in Grand Rapids,Mich. He was world middleweight champ from 1908 until his death in 1910. He was regarded by many as the greatest middleweight of all-time. He was knocked out by Johnson in the 12th round of a bout for the world heavyweight title. Hope this helps.
