Why no odds on Khan-St Clair yet??

Post by E »

STill can't find any odds, yet it is this wekend. I know Khristiansen was cancelled but Khan is a major name so am very surprised.

Only odds offered are on Betfair and these are lines out put up by punters, not an actual bookie....

Anyone seen any?

Doesn't look like there will be any odds- which is a little strange. This *might* suggest something we don't know, or it might just be that the bookies stand pretty clueless, and don't want to hazzard a market.

Khan at 1/12 from £3.65 is no good. He'll win, but St Clair won't make him look great. I'd want 1/5 for Khan personally.

Might be a bit of value in round betting. Whilst Gairy has never been down (as far as I know) and is a slippery character, it may be worth putting down on Khan for a stoppage if the referee is over zelous. If St Clair chooses to just absorb a Khan attack, I could see the ref stopping it.

st clair has been in with corrales for frigs sake and is only a year away from when he was a titlist. Khan is not going to stop him. In fact im leaning towards a bet on the upset or khan on points.

it seems like st clair will land in this one, and i imagine he hits harder than willie limond... i think some crazy bookies will slap st clair on at 8/1 and then we're rolling.

its only a few months since he went 12 with cassius baloyi. F**k this, I'm putting money on st clair, its a far better wager than Earl which was the worst bet of my life. Khan is a fragile rookie and st clair is a seasoned slippery fighter who i bet isnt shot, can still move and land and can frustrate khan all night.

Any odds on the KO per round? That's where the good money must be.

can you imagine how sick it would be if round bets for gairy came up at 100/1 for some bookies? i can see it...

Boyle Sports Oddsmaker: This guy st claire is by all accounts a light puncher! He hasnt stopped anyone. HOW COULD HE STOP KING AMIR? 100/1!

gairy has to be worth a fiver on some middle rounds if that happens.

I'm not suggesting or even thinking seriously that St Clair is going to get hurt or get genuinly stopped. I'm just suggesting that it's a possibility that in certain circumstances, the referee could watch a Khan give it laldy, St Clair soaks it up, and the ref decides to stop it.
It just depends what the bookies do. If they think that Khan has the ability to flatten mountains after the Early fight, then the odds on the pts win should be decent, and taken accordingly. But if it's a supero-dupero boxing-savvy bookies ie. they'll get the work experience lad to look up St Clair's record on boxrec, and they see St Clair has never been stopped, then they may give generous odds on round stoppages, in which case i would consider a purely speculative dabble.

yeah and they fought like tired old men without snap.

I reckon St Clair will be the Bungu or the Robinson to Khan's Naz (for want of a better comparison).

Anyway, who knows, maybe St Clair pulls out & in comes Samuel Kebede...Seen stranger things happen with SN fighters.

bwin has some nice bets on this fight.

Gary to win in every round 101.0, Gary to win straight 9.0

My personal favorite is Khan on points at 3.0

If Gary hasnt seriously slipped and the referee doesnt stop this fight prematurely, this is a good bet!

Did St. Clair look truly bad against Baloyi!?

If you keep this up you're going to lose more and more money. Amir Khan is a very good boxer. The odds are in his favour for very good reason. You should have listened when people said about Earl, and my opinion is that Khan will win this one as well, although very doubtfully in the same fashion.

mate, you need to understand the thinking behind bookies making the prices that they do, and the gaps in understanding that they have.

ive won thousands from betting on fights based on oddsmakers going on form, reputation and hype. do you think these guys are as adept at the marginal markets as their football and horse racing prices?

glen johnson was 100/1 in every round to beat jones. But of course, Johnson was those odds for 'a reason'. 6, 7, 8, 9, kerching.

Macc KO1 Gunn- 5/1 'For a reason!' What reason exactly? With a little hedge on rd 2, how exactly is this club fighter surviving to round 3 with a world level puncher?

Calzaghe PTS Salem- 11/2- for the reason that it is SOOOOOOO improbable that old breadstick hands will go 12 with a hard nut who has never been stopped. Cashback!

haye KO1 bonin- 10/1 Why? a heavyweight scrub with no defence against a guy with natural power. another small hedge on round 2, its a bigtime value bet baby!

i could go on but you get the idea.

Now we have a guy who was decked by WILLIE LIMOND in with a fringe world level step up who has mixed in good company, has a rock head and will likely be sticking around. Him sticking around=chance of catching Khan especially with amir's porous defence. Chance of catching Khan=Khan could go down, we've seen it. Even if there was only a 1 in 60 chance of it happening, 100/1 is a great bet for long term value. Now, is there a 1 in 60 chance of it happening? What were the odds for Limond to do what he nearly did?

I was about to ask if anyone has actually seen St Clair recently. Sure he was a title not to long ago, but he didn't beat anyone special to win the title and lost it soon after he won it. You can also bet your bottom dollar that Khan's handlers have been watching tape of St Clair and have seen that he's at the back end of his career, because if he was in his prime he wouldn't have gotten this fight. It might be worth having a punt on a stoppage win for Khan in the second half of the fight. Khan's swarming style might be enough for the ref to jump in even if St Clair isn't badly hurt as someone has already mentioned.

i don't know men, i really think this St. Clair Dude is being Under-estimated...

Obviously we all expect Khan to Come up with the Goods... But St. Clair seems to have a lot going for his at the mo, with many under-estimating him

This may sound like I'm contradicting myself, but I never thought you'd get 2/1 on the Khan points win. Think that's the bet, although I agree with you RB - 100/1 on every round for St Clair is daft on the part of Stans.

Ah- so thats that then. Given that Bookies usually know what they are doing, it seems an easy win for Khan is on the cards....

I thought khan on points would be wider, damn stingy bookies, you expect him to blow st clair away but you go for a miserable 2/1on points??? disappointing.

bah, i dont know, having second thoughts. If I knew for sure st clair has retained his toughness then there's no chance in hell khan goes one better than diego corrales and viv harris.

In this case st clair sticks around all day and lands on the porous khan, takes him into the trenches and stops him.

however its sooo easy for SN to have dug up a carefully monitored corpse as is their trademark.

Dang, if only I could check out st clair where he's training and have a look!

I'd go with http://www.oddschecker.com/other-sports/boxing Its shows the best odds from about 20 different bookies.

Currently Khan is 1/10 - at best!

You can get 8-1 on St Claire

22-1 on St Clair to win on points, I'd say, its a good bet. All it takes is Khan to have an off day, and against a durable fighter who could easily take the fight.

According to boxrec, Khan has a 6" height advantage. :o

Khan to be the first to stop St.Clair or a wide points win. Betting wise i'm not touching it.

Its going to be a Close one..

Khan has the Ammo to take him Easily.. Also adding the Height Advantage and the fact he is in "his own weight" it should benefit him,

Saying that St. Clair was IBF Champ not so long ago... SO its wrong to call him "Shot". Never Been Knocked Down let alone be Stopped..
