Khan's next fight.

I don't know if it has been mentioned elsewhere - but what happens if Khan's next fight is stateside in April (one assumes Calzaghe vs Hopkins bill). What would that mean for the UK TV.

Calzaghe vs Hopkins on ITV? Or would it mean we would have to switch from ITV to Setanta.

I have big doubts it will happen, but thats the avenue I would have him though. I think he is ready for the poor champions at Lightweight and for me it will be a quicker option than Ramanov, cause look how much good the EBU title has done for Ramanov. He needs to have a Lightweight title fight soon, because he isn't going to be around at the weight much longer.

it says on fw website it defo wont be the undercard of joe v hopkins due to tv contracts

If it's off the Seanta bill, as mentioned above, this won't happen. No way will ITV allow FW to ship all the fighters required for the undercard of the ITV show over to the States. Especially with the time difference.

Would cost too much, unless he fills it with U.S. fighters.

Plus, what's the benefit of him fighting stateside if it isn't on the Calzaghe v Hopkins bill, as he won't get any U.S. TV exposure.

Just doesn't make sense.

Well, Khan has shown that he can easily outpoint an aging, physically smaller former IBF champion from a lower weight class who lacks a knockout punch.

Lets see who they very, very carefully select for him next.

I think Frank failing to mention Thaxton's name on Saturday says it all.

Nobody could complain about Romanov as an opponent. He'll be game and more attack-minded than St Clair.

As world titles go, do you think Alfaro's been in their thoughts at all? Would the media and general public comprehend far less care that such a fight wouldn't be for a real world title, even as the WBA goes? Because if Katsidis/Casamayor is non-title, then Diaz has time to defend against Campbell, WBO belt included. That would then make Diaz/Katsidis next, leaving Khan with no WBO route.

I think Warren could be lining up a mega Vegas boxing weekend similar to the Hatton and Harrison weekend in 2005. Khan fights on the Friday and Calzaghe headlines on the Saturday.

It will be Romanov i expect and then a shot at the WBO belt or an interim bauble. If Rees holds onto the WBA up at LW maybe they can shift Khan up north for that. After all it is one of Franky's fighters that is holding the much bally hooed "world title" warm, the question is...which one?

Warren said the European title. I can't see Romanov vacating so it looks like it could be Romanov. Much better than some WBO #2 guy who beat a guy who went the distance with Romanov!

Khan-Romanov would be equal to the recent quality fight Povetkin-Chambers, with two top 10 (in their division) guys going at it, to get closer to a world title fight.

Given that Khan and Romanov are ranked in most ppl's top 10 lightweights, a win for Khan would really put him in line for some title. Would be tough, because althought Romanov can be slow on his feet, he is precise and has power.

Hope Khan does something big this year, i.e. Romanov, Katsidis, winning some title, because I can't see him being a lightweight too much longer.
