Who next for Geale?
My point is that he should move forward, rather than get into the rut of fighting the same locals and has-beens. Too many Australian fighters have taken the easy path and not taken the main chance. Boxing is a hard game, but if you don't aim at the top fighters, you go nowhere. As for his being humble, humility is a very over rated quality in a boxer. Humble fighters tend to believe the clowns who keep telling them they are going to go nowhere. All the experts said Cassius Clay could not beat Sonny Liston. He knew he could beat him and proved them wrong.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I understand the hard nosed approach, but it’s not the only path. I also don't think he should wait around Australia any longer (unless to fight Soliman). But even if he could get the fight/s, to go hell for leather at a Pavlik or Taylor is not right for him at the moment.
About being humble, I disagree. How you conduct yourself outside the ring has nothing to do with what goes on in the ring. Being humble doesn't make you a fool either. People are lead because they are either fools or naive, not humble. Being humble didn’t seem to harm Kostya’s career.
Venture all you want, just plan the trip.

That's smart, best way for geale to fix his few floors.
These opponents are not world class but are ex contenders and fringe boxers.
He's young, another year in Australia with some strong opponents, not Phillipino's but all 3 of the afore mentioned opponents before taking on the world,
I for one don't want to see another repeat of Taylor/Mosely.
Geale has beaten Dawson Great!, Dawson has beaten 1 name only, too early to expect him to go fight oversee'.
Sorry Mate slight exageration; but lets see who geale has beat in his last 7 fights excluding Dawson:Brute wrote:Filipinos? A 73 kg Filipino is bloody big!
Lee Oti (NZ) Twice
Parkpoom Jangphonak (Thai)
Somchai Chimlum (Thai)
Nonoy Gonzales (Philipines) Big Philipino!
Timo Masua (somoa)
Sonny Michael Angelo (Bolivia) Lunatic
The Quote shouldn't read Philipino's, it should read, anyone who wants to come to Australia free and get your ass kicked.
Forget Asia & Pacific islands thier are limited Middleweights there.
Australia Has some good middleweights at present and he should jump at the chance to hone up on his craft by challenging them.
And to add to that list; Junior Talipeau and Peter Metrevski Jnr.
Re: Who next for Geale?
Anyone know where I can get a copy of geale/dawson fight?

About the only great Filipino Middleweight I know of was Ceferino Garcia, who took the NYSAC World Middleweight Title from Fred Apostoli in 1939 and lost it to Ken Overlin in 1940. In between he fought a draw with Henry "Homicide Hank" Armstrong.Hounddog wrote:Sorry Mate slight exageration; but lets see who geale has beat in his last 7 fights excluding Dawson:Brute wrote:Filipinos? A bit before my time, but i'll take your word for it. I tend to agree thier arn't alot of talented middleweights in the philipines, i was just highlighting aussie boxers are a far better tuneup for geale to take on the world.Brute wrote:About the only great Filipino Middleweight I know of was Ceferino Garcia, who took the NYSAC World Middleweight Title from Fred Apostoli in 1939 and lost it to Ken Overlin in 1940. Floors? Do you think he is a few stories short, or do you mean "flaws"? I also think you mean "to fight overseas."Hounddog wrote:convict wrote:I think he should have 2 or 3 more fights here in Aus against local fighters like Taylor, Bennet and Crampton.

Surprised only 1 person has brought up 25 yo unbeaten Brit Darren Barker!
Barker is a big middleweight prospect in England - maybe it's too early to throw in 2 prospects like this. But being Australian he could be eligible for a shot at Barker's Commonwealth title. Would be one heck of a good matchup and Barker's promoter Hennessy seems to like putting on competitive fights...
What does Geale fight like? Boxer? Slugger?

Is it to big a fight for the Commonwealth title though? Winner would be knocking on the door of the top 10 at 160 if they fought.
