I ran across a Young Stribling WKO-2 Joe Clancy in Montgomery, Alabama Feb. 23, 1928. It's similar to, but not the same as, a bout in the BoxRec database. Can anyone clarify?

Also, I corrected Stribling's bout with Al Friedman to Feb. 27, 1928 (from Feb. 29). This comes from a Feb. 28 newspaper.

Someone please double-check the 05/22/1928 bout between Paul Berlenbach and Larry Estridge. BoxRec currently has it as KO-8, but I found a newspaper account saying it went only to 7 rounds. Ric

Colin, Could you double-check the June 5, 1928 bout between Ace Hudkins and Buck Holley? We currently have it occurring in London, Ontario; but I saw a newspaper article saying it occured in Lincoln, Nebraska. Thanks, Ric

June 13, 1928: Tony Canzoneri vs. Vic Foley @ Montreal? A newspaper article I have says his opponent was actually George Chabot. Clarification?

Billy Petrolle-Billy Engman 07/12/1928 Aberdeen (right after Petrolle's bout in Seattle, Washington). BoxRec has this as occurring in Aberdeen, Washington.

I came across a newspaper article today that says it was Aberdeen, South Dakota - which makes sense as it appears Petrolle was heading back east at the time; whereas a bout in Aberdeen, Washington would require him to go in the opposite direction, up into the northwestern boondocks of Washington state. (True: Aberdeen, WA, was also a boxing town at the time.)

Can anyone clarify?

We have a Gorilla Jones-Sunny Jim Williams July 18, 1928 @ Akron, Ohio.
I have a newspaper article that reports a Gorilla Jones-Sgt. Sammy Baker July 17 @ Cleveland, Ohio. This is, obviously, the day before, but it was not unusual in those days for a boxer to have bouts back-to-back. Should I enter this Cleveland bout? Ric

Robin: Interesting. You earlier entered a July 27, 1928 San Francisco bout between Martin Burke-Jimmy Defoe. The EVERETT DAILY HERALD reported this D-8 as being between Billy Burke-Billy DeFoe. Can we get a confirmation from anyone one way or the other?

Another discrepancy: We have an Ace Hudkins D-10 Lou Paluso at Vernon, Calif. I saw a newspaper article that said this was a D-10 at Hollywood (not Vernon) with Pat Mills, not Paluso. Can anyone clarify? Ric

Ric the 1971 RRB gives Hudkins record. It has two fight with Lou Paluso and one with Mills in 1925. They were -

Feb 27 D 10 Lou Paluso, Vernon
Mar - W 10 Pat Mills, Hollywood
Aug - D 10 Lou Paluso, Vernon

I have not verified any of these with newspaper accounts. I did not enter the no specific date ones (the last two), maybe I should have, sometimes I find it helpful, other times confusing.
