Walcott VS Chalres 5:

Post by Crease »

Today, if you could maigxlaly bring Jersey Joe Walcott and Ezzard Charles back from their respective primes (whenever you think they are) for the ultimate 5th fight, who do you think would win?

NOTE: Although you are bringing the fighters back from their prime, both the fighters will remember the 4 meeting previously...

Let's hear your thoughts guys, this should be an itneresting one alright....

Charles.

He won three of the four fights, but got robbed the last time. Charles would never let Walcott land that left hook like that again, and with proper judges Charles would officially win the series.

It would be a snoozer, just like all of their other fights. Sometimes, two skilled counter-punchers=cure for insomnia.

I would have to say Charles, since he did win their first bout when both where in/near their primes.

..i have no idea why i just clicked this on,as i have nothing to add to what i feel fine has posted about the result.

dempsey...maybe it was because charles was my favorite fighter gave a lot of suspense to the matches and because i loved watching ezzard's brilliant boxing and punching against a cagey old guy that to me these fights were as far from beeing snoozers as one could be.

on the other hand, i thought marciano/layne was like watching two club fighters who hadn't much skill and therefore the fight didn't hold my interest.....it was like waiting for the main event...oops..it WAS the main event.

kinda ironic how both those "unskilled club fighters" managed to go a combined 6-2 record against those "brilliant boxers"

..hey buster...i thought this would bring yu out of your cocoon.

good points, although the rex layne decision over charles was ridiculous...but i've written about dempsey's refereeing and decision so much i'll give it a rest
