Its a bit like politics then - You get elected and have great ambitions, then to stay in your very well paid job with masses of perks, you forget your ambitions and the people who you represent and tow the party line by agreeing with the party whips - On the other hand you could stand up for what you believe in and get booted out - You can have a long career as a boxer picking fights with those you know you can beat and make loads of money - The alternative is be brave, take risky fights that you lose and then have to retire early and go back to working for a living.yiddo14 wrote:Every boxer to start with get's into the sport for the glory.

Like someone else said, if you don't rely on boxing, then do it for the glory, and vice versa.
Essentially, it all depends on what you term "money". I think if you can afford to buy a nice house outright after you've done with boxing, you are set for life. Looking at the likes of FMJR and RJJR is foolish imo, as they had MASSIVE HBO contracts.

When Mayweather beat Hatton, Corrales and Gatti, his reaction after the fight would suggest he did it for the glory.
Same with Hatton v Tszyu. Even domestically look at when Hughes beat Pickering.
For the most part, these guys a out and out competitors who hate losing. I am sure they will play silly buggers to get more money, but once the contracts are signed, they are in it for the glory.
